just a thought:

i have been really surprised by how well informed and knowledgeable some people here on TL are. there have been people posting on the Russia/Georgia threads who easily outclass a lot of what's being written in weekly newsmagazines. There are forums dedicated to discussing current events that doesn't reach the depth of analysis going on in some of the threads here. i mean there's a lot of bullshit and idiocy, but participating in some of these discussions has been really rewarding. kudos to these people whose posts i've really enjoyed reading and have motivated me to learn more about the world:

I agree, at least for the most part.

Contrarily, you send cryptic private messages to people asking them how old they are and don't respond when asked why you want to know.

Sorry I had you confused with someone else. I noticed a few weeks ago you are a poster similar to those in the list you mentioned, and took note of the fact that your profile said you were from Afghanistan.

Glad to be appreciated. Although geopolitics is outside my education these days I still take an interest and my writing skills from my history should hopefully be transferable. That said I'm unlikely to say anything you can't read on any reputable news site about news, just give my view on what we've all heard in a historical context.

Crap list, I said. You will come to bodily harm from multiple sources, including the cereal you forgot about and left in your closet to spontaneously generate acne-inducing slime monsters. All because you didn't put me at the top of that list.

Wait a second. Isn't this kind of stuff what the "Quality Poster" user image is supposed to indicate? Just pull out a list of people who have that image and you'll be sucking up to the mods who gave them that, too! WIN-WIN!

OMG 2^10 posts. I am GOSU.

Moltke says some pretty thought-provoking things.

We all had some brick shitting discussion in IRC about hiveminds and the value of human life.

I'm a bit flattered considering I seem to bug some people here. I don't mind, since I actually believe the shit I post about 90% of the time, although I do get drawn into stupid debates and play devil's advocate way too much. I don't think I ever really talk out of my ass when it comes to politics/economics/philosophy though, but I'm sure someone disagrees with me.

the good posters are good, the spammers are bad and usually get banned but then smurf a new account. the good ones are really insightful, and are usually great reads

i just dont like how some ppl think low post count = no credibility. there are many forum lurkers who probably like to read this stuff and know a lot, but just dont want to write

Yeah, sometimes what he says is incredibly convoluted but it still amazes me how he draws from so many different examples/sources.
