1. What has prompted you to pursue a career in commercial law? Please provide examples if possible.
What they are after: I am interested in the obligation businesses have to consumers. Business transactions are part of our lives blah blah blah. Example is that time i was ripped off by EB with this trade 3 games for Smash bros brawl and i tried to swap 3 wii sports and they said no and i shoved the Trade Practices Act in their face and they crumbled.
Real answer: Not really, i'm in it for the experience and money (as in they pay me 25 bux an hr for it). Finance has better future prospects but all the investment banks didn't even bother with me because its a fucking bear market and they are cutting staff and restructuring left and right.
What areas of law particularly interest you and how have you come to develop that interest?*
Interested in property and litigation, have previous experience doing internships at small boutique law firms to pursue this 'passion'. For property i conveyed my parents house with guidance from principal solicitor. Litigation wise i was always interested in attending court / court processes etc etc. Have done some work at local court with pro bono solicitor.
Real answer: anything that might help me out in the future i guess. Not actually interested in an area of law. I like boston legal?
These are the two questions i have problems with. Please don't comment if you are just going to say 'zomg dont do something you dont enjoy/ruining your life'.
