Really I think the laws are unfair ageist restrictions on freedom. A person isn't allowed to do things because society knows better than they do. There is a certain point where a child is indeed too young to know any better, but it sure as hell isn't 18 (16 I think makes the most sense as an age of consent). There are reasons given about the power imbalance in certain relationships, that the girls are being exploited by men who have power and money. That is quite simply the sexual landscape of the country, and age is fairly irrelevant. Then there are cases taht are clearly wrong. 40 and 14 strikes me that way, and prepubescence of course being a total cutoff. | ||

In all honesty, is it only natural for a male to be attracted to a pubescent female. Regardless of the age? As long as she is sexually matured. I remember getting into a debate with a guy about this, we only find the 40 and 14 year old example disgusting because it is what society has taught us. If the world lacked society that would be perfectly normal would it not? Look at animals in the animal kingdom. Once a female reaches sexual maturity she is fair game. I'm pretty sure humans would also fall into this category. | ||
