I thought about it some more...
I can try holding it differently, but I highly doubt I'll be able to get used to holding it another way. Well, I'll try it tomorrow and see how it goes.
Alternately, I can try attaching something to the sides of the mouse to make it less slippery (especially when the hand sweats a bit). This might make it harder for my hand to lift the mouse off the table...

I had this with a new mouse I had as well, I did the thumb and pinky thing as well. Are you placing you whole hand on the mouse like with a bigger one, if not then what I did even though it didn't get rid of the frustration (but lessened it) was to place a tissue over the mouse pad. Thats about as much as I can think of, just look at the way your holding the mouse and if your not putting enough pressure on it to force it down onto your mouse pad.

I think you are right, since I generally tend to hold it with my hand positioned fairly far backwards. When I move my hand forward to cover more of the mouse, my fingers begin to go off the ends of the mouse buttons which isn't ideal, but it puts a lot more weight on the mouse and also positions my thumb and pinky finger differently so that they don't lift up the mouse. I'm going to try this tomorrow, and then get revenge for my losses (or get pwned, who knows).

a little above my wrist where the palm is about to start
but this is at the edge of the table so my hand and arm are in a straight line

my sensitivity is high enough that my hand pivots from the same position on the table
even if i lift the mouse, itll still be touching the table's edge
essentially, i'm controlling the entire mouse's movement with my thumb and ring finger, (edit) which is easy with the diamondback because it goes in/downward on both sides and i can support it vertically if need be without pressing hard

I think you aren't a "finger" user like me. I rest my hand very lightly on my mouse (g3), the base of the palm of my hand rests on the mousepad and thats what supports the weight. My grip on my mouse is actually very light, and I use my thumb/fingers only to nudge it left or right.
I dont know how big your mouse is, but I can see why someone with a grip like yours would have a problem with a mouse the size of the g3 (I actually couldn't figure out why you had this problem first, until I changed my grip to rest my palm on the mouse and have it take the weight - and I started having that problem!). Maybe get a bigger mouse, something as big as a g5?

Holy crap how hard are you holding the mouse? It would help if you're more relaxed. I tried to lift my diamondback up like you did and it required significant pressure to do so.
Relax~

there are really two options available for you at the moment...
either a: you stick it out and just wait until you get used to the mouse (this will take approx. 1-2 months minimum)
or b: you buy a mouse with a difference shape, if you can't get used to the razer form, i would either recommend upgrading to the newer razer models that no longer have the old classic "diamondback/copperhead" shape or switching to logitech which supports an entirely different mouse shape and feel, which in this case sounds more fitting to your hand grip

This is exactly how I use my mouse.
I would say stick with the mouse and adjust. I'm curious to know how exactly you hold your mouse.

It's much worse when you actually have a faulty mouse. Sometimes my mouse will stick when I move it diagonally. It will have this symptom sometimes more and sometimes less. I can't figure out why this is. It's incredibly annoying in games when this happens. It seems fine when I start the game, but then I move it diagonally and the pointer freezes and shivers and causes lots of misclicks. So I've often paused games so I can fuss with the cord, try cleaning out the LED area under it. Sometimes that fixes it. I know exactly what you mean about wanting to make excuses or dodge due to mouse issues.
*sigh*
Time to get a new mouse soon.

Yesterday I played around and found something I'm more comfortable with. I didn't have the same problem when I put more of my hand's weight on the mouse (by reaching a little further back on it). I also taped down a mousepad... all I have to figure out now is exactly where I want the mousepad to be (I don't like it right up against the edge of the table... same with the keyboard)
