And my computer no longer has any of its Drivers. (i'm assuming this because my internet, sound, and any USB drives I try to attach to the comp no longer work/register.)
My Comp is a Windows XP. Model = HP Pavilion a747c Desktop PC
Where do I find out what Drivers I need and should DL?
I am typing all this on my labtop. How will I get all the drivers I need onto my Desktop since it doesn't seem to register USB drives? and doesn't have internet connection?

should have thought about this before reformatting >_< it's going to be a pain in the ass if you dont have a cd!

Well if its a brand PC like yours you could try going to HP's website and looking for the image discs.
This cds contain a clean image of your computer just like when you bought it.
Another choice is detecting new devices via the device administrator and search for each driver individually.
|
can you burn cds in your laptop?

|
So much to DL -_-;
I don't know what to Choose lol.
I'm computer newb...

I didn't buy a network card so I assume it came w/ PC.
I Dl'ed Fall 2004 Original Network Adapter Driver Collection, transfered to Cd-Rom, and transfered to my desktop.
However, when I try to install it says, "the original drivers are stored in the C:\HP\Drivers\Lan Folder. Please install the driver through the Device Manager."
How do I do this?
|
start--> setting--> control panel-->system--> hardware tab--->open device manager
now if you see something with like a yellow question mark sign it means its missing a driver
anyways, so you ran the file and it said it saved the original drivers at Fall 2004 Original Display/Monitor Driver Collection?
assuming this is right, in the device manager, look under the network adapters and right click the 10/100 integrated controller ( general idea of what it will say, can be different tho) anyways click under update driver, then install from an specific location then browse to the C:\HP\Drivers\Lan Folder and find the driver there, then click next next next
|
Hmm
I guess I am not missing any network adapters because there is no question mark by it. Why is my internet not working then?
However, there is a question mark next to
Other Devices --> Ethernet Controller
And in the Sound, video and game controllers, 3x question marks saying "unknown device."
|
ethernet controller is your network card, weird thats out of network adapters :s
anyways do what I told you in that one instead

Yes your ethernet controller is missing, that's why you have no internet~

I was never able to run the Driver I Dl'ed because when I tried to run it, it gave me the message ""the original drivers are stored in the C:\HP\Drivers\Lan Folder. Please install the driver through the Device Manager.""
Also, I don't see " 10/100 integrated controller" anywhere.

This is on the package I told you to download ( file sp26363.exe , from Fall 2004 Original Network Adapter Driver Collection,).. everything you needed to know was there, could pay more attention next time ^^?
...-.-
How To Use: 1. Download the driver package. 2. Double-click on the icon for the driver package downloaded in step 1, and then click NEXT. 3. Accept the terms in the HP license agreement, and then click NEXT. 4. Click OK to continue. The original drivers are now stored in the C:\HP\Drivers\LAN folder. 5. If Device Manager does not start automatically, use the following steps. Otherwise go to step 6: a. Click Start. b. Right-click My Computer, and then select Properties. c. Click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button. 6. Click the + (plus) sign next to "Network adapters" or "Other devices". 7. Right-click the device you want to update, and then select Update Driver. 8. Click NEXT to install the software automatically 9. Click FINISHED to complete the installation.
that should probably do it.. im about to go to bed soon, so if your still having problems let me know soon

Yes -_-; I honestly read that lol.
@ Step 7, I choose Ethernet Controller and right click and do update Driver.
@ This step, it can't find the driver to update and just skips to Step 9.
|
ok, try this
go up to step 7 then
choose the second option the manual one (advanced)
then search for driver in this location...
click browse-->click plus sign in C: drive then click on hp folder, then click on lan folder then click ok or open ..then next
|
I get the message
" the location you specified does not contain any device information files.
please enter another location or uncheck the 'include this location in the search' box"
|
shit i hate when drivers get funky.. ok if you go to the folder yourself what do you see inside of it, I meaning open my documents then go to
C:\HP\Drivers\LAN folder
whats inside? more folders? files?
|
I've been trying to find that folder, but I don't know how -_-;'
