So today my friend tells me that we are oging on a trip to the UK, in like 3 weeks. I wanna go so bad, but how long does it usually take to get a passport, these are some of the issues i face. Convicning my parents to let me go is another one. And then paying for it. The flight cost like 800$ both ways and we are staying at my friends cousins loft while there, then we are going to do whatever.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the passport stuff works in the U.S. How long it takes to get and how long they last and cost, etc.
Like i said, i have just a few weeks to organize this, so is there any time rush? One of my friends whose a compulisve liar says they can tgive you like a temp slip. But since hes a compulsive liar i'm not exactly going to go off what he says.
All help and advice much appreciated

I think I got mine in about 2 weeks, it's really easy just fill out paper work and and pay I really don't remember how much I paid for it might of been like $35-40. But might want to that ASAP if you only have 3 weeks.

i got mine in about 5 days. i paid extra to expedite it though. you could always go down to a passport office and get one even faster i think.

Fill out all the forms online and print them out, go to the post office and have it rush ordered + overnight shipping on sending and return. It'll cost you over $100 but it'll be done in under 2 weeks. Mine was finished in 2 days.

Be warned, I've heard getting a passport can be a gut busting experience and can take a LONG time, meaning, you can be in trouble if you need it right away.
If you pay an extra fee and/or go to the passport office you can speed it up, but I've heard passport offices make it seem like department of motor vehicle offices bend over backwards for you.

you have to pay for the express service now. tell your friend to give you a smidge of an advanced warning next time, its nice.

I got mine in 2 weeks. Had to go to Walgreens to get the passport picture taken, then went to the county court place and did the paperwork and they mailed it to my house once it was finished. It cost $35 four years ago for mine.

Sweet. i guess i will get one and see how long it takes tomorrow, if it comes before i guess i can go, if not, i guess i'm screwed, but i can still use it later. Thanks guys.

if u need it like right away, give the travel agent some extra cash and they'll take care of it
EDIT: don't mind me, not sure how it works there though
