So... my senior spring break is coming up and most of my friends are going to the barcelo maya in the riviera maya. Planning has been on/off due to my dads employment status. Anyways, i'm looking for a 7 day (3/21 or 22 til 3/28 or 29) flight + hotel. Orbitz ands travelocity turned up nothing for me, expedia is 6500+ and northwest airlines is ~6k (currenlty best). Any help? Looking to stay at the Beach or Colonial, or maybe Palace(most expensive). Oh yea, also need to sell my mom on mexico, she doesnt want to go (wtf it's not her senior spring break) and rather go on a cruise or smth.

edit: fuck just re-did it at NWA w/ non stop flights (otherwise i lose a day) and it comes out to like 7400

edit2: note that our family probably has like ~100k miles on nwa, so idk if we can use that against it or what.

also i live near detroit, and mayan riviera is on the tip of mexico, so its significantly farther than "across the border"

This is why you plan spring break serveral months in advance. You're going on the busiest SB week for college kids. Most places make you have your FULL payment in by now. I paid 1250 for Puerta Vallerta for 7 days. You're gonna get buttraped now. Your only hope is to go to a local travel agent. Online typically will rip you off.

I'm not sure who the hell is making your plans put 6k is a lot of fucking money. I came back from Mexico like a week ago and it cost me roughly 3k in everything stay, hotel, flight, taxis in city, and everything I bought and I stayed there 3 weeks. Someone is riping off. Maybe its because its Spring Break and everything is a little bit more expensive, but still seems like a lot to me.

Also I hope Barcelona Maya is like Cancun, (Mexicans don't really call it Mexico b/c its mostly non Mexicans who go there) other wise don't get fucked up and drink the worm. Next thing you'll know you'll wake up in an alley with anal bleeding and have no idea where the fuck you are. Another helpful tip if your going to buy stuff make sure the price seems reasonable. Whenever someone white comes into a small shop everything in the shop triples in price.

Other than that have fun.

And suck it up and get connecting flights if it won't fuck you up too bad. You can catch up on sleep at school, you're a senior =p

fake edit: the palace or whatever is a five star lol. Budget and just take a 3 or 4 star man. All you need is a semi comfortable bed, a beach, bars on your place (all inclusive, of course) and a decently close proximity to the downtown area and you're fine.

reason its so expensive: its in two months. Started planning last oct/nov and it was 1/2 - 2/3 of the price. But yea. And mayan riviera is like right next to cancun, so its the tourist part not the mexican part

And i'm pretty sure it needs to be at one of the barcelo's, unless i'm allowed to go stay at a diff one and still go there? (prob not T_T)

Would it hurt you majorly if you just did it later in the year and took the days as absences? Maybe you have a doctor friend who can make up an illness note for you =].
