pissed over forgetting a friend's birthday. Should I still call?
miffed over missing swim for past 3 days cuz of dumb cut. from now on, i play with the wound kids.
tired over all the Work i need to finish. Yet, in comparison to the magnitude of graduate law school, i should be singing for cake.
Amused @ finding words that describe the piteous state I'm feeling.
On to more importance -
I'm going to post this in general b/c I'm sure most people dont read this trash of a blog.
Sleep and its cycles
Teens : 9 hrs. However, this is difficult because "we are biologically programmed to want to stay up later and wake up later".
Wtf? Sombody please explain to me why teens naturally exhibit this?
Sleep deprivation :
Causes laziness, tired, frustrated, hazy. Basically, makes you act in a less efficient way than if you weren't deprived, You perform better, drive better, etc. Especially : Less Concentrated and more prone to act with symptoms of ADHD.
If you need alarm clock to wake, or if you lose consciousness moment your head touches pillow, or need frequent naps during the day, you are sleep deprived.
There is such a concept as "sleep debt." Bad sleep habit/ "deprivation" is bad for health. Your immune system hates you, metabolic changes, etc. Sleep few hours extra everyday till you make up sleep lost.
Lol, this must be the concept of weekends and winter vacation for students.
Sleep cycle :
1. Drowsiness - ( 5- 10 minutes) IE - When I'm doing hw @ 3 AM and I need small rest break to rest eyes. I awake abrubtly. I am entering/leaving this stage repetetively.
2. Light Sleep - Eye movement stop, Temperature goes down, heart rate slows. IE - There are times when I am eyes closed in History, I hear sounds around me, I feel warm and fuzzy, everything is fuzzy/hazy. I awaken moment teacher calls on me. This must be light sleep.
3. Deep Sleep - Slumber Sleep. (stage 3 + 4)
4. REM sleep - dream. REM sleep is like a sin function which orbits through each cycle. After 70-90 minutes in each cycle. IE - I normally have 3 dreams per night. I can have maximum of 5. Am i actually having 5, but not remembering the episode?
Effect of Deep Sleep + REM :
1. Brain goes on vacation, restoring energy, basically, It is your heal center.
2. REM is for processing emotions, retaining memories, relieving stress. We lose logic, and self-awareness. Thus why we expierence such oddities yet find them true during the dream.
Amazing! If only we could project this REM into reallife. To lose logic and awareness and at the same time believe it!! Similar to that one japanaese movie about dreams - Paprika.

The Sleep cycle -
The length is unimportant, it's rather if you hit the cycle or not.
1.5 hours
3 hours
4.5 hours
6 hours
7.5 hours
These are the quantities you should aim for, and what your body will naturally correspond to without an alarm clock. ( it appears I have been waking of my own accord minutes before my alarm clock , but I should empirically test this just to be sure.) SLEEP TIME - 11: 25. Wake : 7 00.
"It explains why, when I get 8 hours of sleep I feel tired and groggy, or when I get 4 hour of sleep, I can barely wake up. As human beings, we should know about this fact, as everyone always says "get your 8 hours". Yet some people fare better than others. Why is that? Probably because the more rested people are actually getting closer to 7.5, or 9 hours, while the 8 hour folk feel constantly unrested."
I understand completely, When i Sleep @ 10, I feel more tired when I wake up then if i were to sleep @ 12. How interestingly paradoxical. It's like eating Mc donalds after a decade's worth of salad. From now on - No more Early sleeping haha. 11:30 is good.
Even Better - REM The trick is not to sleep 4.5 hours. It's to sleep 3 hours, and a 1.5 hour nap. Split it! Thus, why after an all nighter, a nap in the afternoon is completely rejuvinating.

Me -
Last night, I went to sleep @ 3. I woke @ 7. Of my own accord. This day, I felt completely refreshed, except for a slight lapse @ 1:35 and 3:30 which I normally go through during school day despite any amount of sleep I had. WHY? Why did I wake @ 7? despite not fulfilling a sleep cycle? I felt the same waking up, as I do on any other day.
Is this bad for my health?
(I am feeling a headache as I write this ) which is uncommon because I never get headaches.
i'm going to begin testing my threshold on weekends.
SLeep 1 am - wake 8 : 30.
It's funny. The later you sleep, the less likely you will wake up on the first return to consciousness.
(However, this applies only for weekends I think due to the lack of stress, that there is no urgency, so the brain shuts down again)
Poll : Do you dream in color?
Anyways, to you :
When you have times when you have barely any sleep, yet feel completely refreshed, What do you make of it?
How many Hours a night do you sleep?
