Oh my god, I feel like crap at the moment. So here's the story, we get this assignment sheet that has all our homework and stuff and when its due and stuff. I did the wrong homework 2 nights ago, doing the homework that was tomorrow's homework. This is Algebra 2 (sophmore atm) btw, and we grade all our even problems. We had two assignments to check and I didnt do one of them, but I didnt tell the teacher. Instead, I just didnt turn it in, only turning in the one I did, hoping I could get it in late and putting it in the homework pile so when she asked for it, I could find it and turn it in. Stupid me.
I finished the homework last night and today and during class, I got sorta sweaty and nervous, what if it didnt work? Today, we got our grade sheets and it said I was missing the work, so I go up to her and give her my homework, putting a 30/30 on it like a moron and turned it in. She saw it and was like, who wrote your grade? (She knew people's handwriting, unknown to me). My voice is sorta shaky and I say John, (the kid in front of me, in class, we pass our papers one forward). Then she calls him up, asked if he graded it, he said he did grade it, he didnt know which assigment she was talking about so he thought she was talking about the one I did. Confusing, I know. Then, she had an aide grade the paper, I got like 3 wrong and she asked again, who graded it. I said I did finally and so she took me out to the hall, said some stuff and came back in. I had to call my parents and tell them about what I did, my dad called her and he told me later that I could get suspended and she already told the principal. The good thing was, my dad doesn't get mad easily and so he was okay, my mom was pissed at beginning but didnt say much later. So my grade in there's like a C+, because I'm pretty sure she's gonna give me a 0 on the homework that I lied on. However, if I do good on this test tomorrow and get all my answers from a packet right, I could bump it up.
What should I do now though? As of now, I'm a member of Mu Alpha Theta, a math club thing that tutors kids after school, and I'm probably gonna get kicked out, should I ask for my refund, 15 bucks? I'm going to write a letter to her right now, should I tell her tomrorow that I got physically punished? Not like say it directly, but get an ice bag or something on my head, telling her my mom made me get on push up position, she whacked my behind 20 times with a wooden sword, then she hit both my arms and my head hit the floor? All in all, I learned a good lesson from this, but dang if I get suspended I'm screwed. What should I do? Thanks
|
Ouch, that sucks. Here is what I think you should do. Try to actually learn the lesson and stop thinking about ways to make yourself look better. Just accept things the way they are and move on. Good luck with things, I'm sure it's no big deal in the long run.

This is where you ask for the rematch. I think if you get punished or not, write a letter of apology. Don't just walk up to her and say I'm sorry can you not screw me over? Put it in writing and be very humble about it. You can explain how you missed the wrong assigment, but accept all the blame. Tell her any punishment is deserved by me, however, you would greatly appreciate it if the punishment is not terribly bad. Also write one to your principal.

its HS - does not matter. Plus, why would you cheat on a stupid homework assignment...god damn -_-;;
|
I dont know metalx, just had this weird feeling that I wanted a freaking A in that class
|
shoulda just not did it,
one hw assignment arent usually worth a lot
|
Your class is pretty strict. At my highschool, teacher checks only to see if you completed it and gives you a grade with the reasoning that if you bs your work, it reflects in the tests.
|
What teacher did this? Sounds like something Eschels would do, but I don't remember her ever teaching Algebra 2. I don't remember most of the teachers ever being that anal about stuff, but I guess in retrospect I did sleep during a lot of my classes when I was at Ballard.
Other than the teacher giving you dirty looks and maybe not trusting you anymore, it's probably nothing to worry about. I don't think it will affect much in the long-run.
|
that really sucks. what you did wasn't really a hardcore cheating example.. :\
|
Orlandu, how do you know my teachers name??
|
Lama, in this class, its worth alot. I get good grades on tests but some screw up on hw really puts it down. I'm not used to this sorta math class though, checking homework and all. And it will affect me in the long run, if i get suspension, get kicked out of school? I feel bad for john though, it wasnt his fault
|
Haha it was Eschels? I had her when I was there, so I know exactly how she is. It just sounded exactly like something she would get all upset about.
I knew you went to Ballard because I saw you post it here somewhere before, and since you're one of the few people here that live in the same city as me, and the only person I can remember that goes/has gone to the same high school, I tend to remember it pretty well
When I had Eschels, there was around 32 of us in the class at first, and before long it was down to like 16 or 17. It was the first really "hard" math class any of us had ever really taken, and she's tough. She makes you work hard, and there's basically no free points in her class. So she weeded a lot of us out, but after awhile things get better. She's tough, but she's a good teacher and you'll probably be glad for everything later, assuming you pass the class with a decent grade.
|
Oh, wow yeah Mrs. Romans got sick and had operation so Eschels decided to take up a class of hers, which was 6th period. She was teaching algebra 2 though in the beginning of the year. I agree with you her being tough and her teaching is different from the more passive math teachers alot of students are used to during middle and high school. She's nice though, on good days the class would joke the whole time and she'd be there laughing along with us. Too bad I won't be one of them laughing.
Do you go to UofL now?

Dear Mrs. Eschels, Today was a bad day and I don’t need to explain the situation or myself again. However, I think you should know what I did and how I did it so it is clear and by the way, is not an excuse whatsoever, it is in order to explain my behavior. The assignment I turned in today, I did last night and last night’s homework two nights ago, basically doing the wrong homework again. My motivation was one goal; to get a good grade in your math class but the way I did it was not right. My behavior is unexplainable and as I am typing this essay, I can not explain my feelings on why I did it. I am very sorry again of what I did today and there will not be enough apologies and asking for forgiveness ; lying to a teacher twice, giving the burden to another student, and lastly failing my morals. Every kind and all punishments are deserved; getting kicked out of Mu Alpha Theta, getting detention, suspended from school, I have no choice but to face my consequences. I have already faced punishment from my parents, I believe I will receive harsh physical punishment, a norm when I was younger, not believing in such a thing to do but because of what I have done, I know I deserve it. I beg of you, however to please not give me the harshest punishment, I know what I have done wrong and will not ever do it again.
Thats my letter, how is it? Im gonna turn one into the principal, god im so screwed.
|
Yeah, I was at UK for a year and then came back home, now I'm at UofL.
I had Eschels for Integrated 3, which was a bit harder than Algebra 2 so I'm not sure how that affects your class, but she's a really good teacher if you actually do the work. She's also the AP Calculus teacher, so if you're planning on doing that it's a good idea to try and patch up any problems with her while you can.
|
why do you keep planning/doing stupid shit even after you were found lying -__-
from what it looks like, you suck ass at lying, so stop.
humble yourself, tell the truth, and hope for the best.
|
Oh, yeah I have two years to make it up, can you read my letters and fix anything to make it better? thanks
|
Letter to prinicpal
Dear Dr. Jury, I have already heard that Mrs. Eschels has told you what I have done; I will not make any excuses and reasoning to why I did it. I deserve any punishment that you will give and will receive it gladly, knowing that my consequences have been paid. What I have done had put another bad reputation of Ballard High School and the principal knowing about that, the feeling of guilt makes it that much worse. However, I beg of you to please forgive me and give me a punishment that is not the harshest you can give to students; I truly am sorry and I can not explain to as why I did such an act.

I think she'll respect you a lot more for this, but you're still gonna have to work to show her that you mean it. If you keep trying hard in her class and do well, by the end of the year you should be in pretty good standing. Unless she's more bitter than I remember.

Seriously, what you did probably hurt your grade more than if you had just skipped it. I doubt you'll get suspended though, maybe detention or something of the like.

you're lucky you got caught now, if you got caught later in high school on a bigger assignment (cheating on a test, plagirism etc) that would've been awful, or in college an expulsion. consider yourself lucky if you PASS that class, don't even have a passing thought about whether you'd get a 0 for that homework assignment, that's a given... seriously, refund, 15 bucks? tell your teacher that you got physically abused? no offense, but you need some people skills.
the lesson: don't cheat.

did your parents really give you 'physical punishment?' from your opening post they did not, and if you try to gain pity points from your teacher by lying yet again you are a fucking moron and have learned nothing from this.
on the other hand, detailing how your parents hit you isn't a good idea in any circumstance. if you are telling the truth, 'my parents disciplined me strictly' is enough.
|
Very nice intruge, thanks
|
Maybe write more than 1 sentence about why you did what you did. I'm not sure how detailed you explained to her what happened in the hall, but it might be helpful to restate it (I wouldn't have a very good explanation under that much pressure).
Also, maybe try not to beg so much....just say something like "I'd be very grateful if you would be so kind as to consider not recommending the harshest punishment for my foolish act, given my good record in the past. However, I understand that my actions were not acceptable, and will respect any decision made based on what you deem as appropriate."
...except write it better than that.

lol i got caught cheating on a Spanish 2 test my sophmore year like the very first test we had. after 2-3 weeks she had forgotten all about it and didn't care. If you keep bringing it up and say that you cheated, (even on some stupid like hw, wtf?) they'll remember you and they will grade you tougher later on in the year because they know you cheated before. If you let them forget, it'll be easier.

Also she makes you stand on your desk on your knees and she hits your thighs. Most parents usually stop hitting after middle school. And your mom hit you. Before it was usually the dad who was strict but i see lately the mom is more strict and the dad more lenient.
My advice is dont mention about the hitting just say something like you got punished strictly by your parents too. And now realize whats done is done. You learned your lesson and honestly if you tell how your parents hit you to your teacher it makes it seem like you want pity from your teacher. Just get over it and the next time dont do it. Move on
|
quit lying because you suck at it, don't cheat cuz you suck at that too (if you were gonna do that, get a friend to cover for you at least??) and just suck it up and move past it. Youre not gonna get suspended. at worst, you get a zero for that hw and she watches you like a hawk now (LOLPUN). you woulda been better off just getting the zero.
and shit man, you really dont know cheating at all looking back at it. dont put 30/30 put something believeable like 26/30, etc... soon youll realize high school is one big fucking joke and youll be mad you got so stressed out about petty shit like this

Lesson learned. Move no. Don't write a fucking letter, lol. Seriously, it's not a big deal and will blow over in a week.
Man, it's great being all chilled out now. Back in highschool I remember being pretty much worried every day I was going to get in shit with teachers or my parents, and I did. But I just had a thought, I haven't been truly worried about anything in over a year. It's great!
|
This teacher is a little bit more to be worried about than your average teacher... It would really benefit him to not just shrug this off and actually attempt to show remorse and patch things up. She takes things very seriously and has a lot of influence within the school. So while it may not be a big deal in the long-run, life will be much, much easier for him if he tries to show her that he knows what he did was wrong and that he's willing to work hard to make up for what he did.
This is coming from probably the ONLY person who's actually had the teacher for an entire year, and also from someone who was just about as carefree as they come in high school. You really don't wanna piss this teacher off, it's just not something that's a good idea to try to ignore. If it was any other teacher, he probably wouldn't even be in this position, but if he still was then I'd say yeah, shrug it off and forget about it. But it's worth caring a little bit more about when this teacher's involved.

heh... saturday school
at my old high school if you have any "serious" disciplinary action (saturday school or worse) then you are automatically expelled from NHS, and are not eligible to reapply.

- please don't make any mention of physical punishment by your parents.. first its not true and second by law she could report that stuff; such a comment would only make things worse. - make the letter simpler, less wordy and more honest to you teacher i.e. an apology - all you want is for her to believe you really regret what you did. - give her the letter personally. - don't send the principal anything yet.
