Since the CranKy Ducklings were created, we have always been trying to help where we're needed and re-invest what we make back into the StarCraft 2 scene. Whether it would be with our weekly tournaments or by giving players salaries to help them continue to compete, we are always on the lookout for ways to support, especially the smaller regions.
Unfortunately, recently we had to say goodbye to our NA pro player roster. It wasn't an easy decision to make but when we made it, we fully intended to re-allocate the funds to bringing back our tournaments and introducing new ones.
We've spent the last few weeks preparing and now the time has come \o/ We present to you the CranKy Ducklings tournaments:
Sparkling Tuna Cup - Wednesdays, 7 PM KST, open to everyone!
Grand Platypus Open - Saturdays, 5 PM KST, now open to the entire EPT Asia region! (SEA, OCE, RoA, TWHK, China)
Tenacious Turtle Tussle - Sundays, 8 AM KST, open to EPT Americas and EPT Asia regions!
Both STC and GPO are returning to our channel after a hiatus. With the merging of EPT regions, we think it makes sense to open GPO to all of EPT Asia, so the players can compete against the same opponents they may meet in the main circuit. At the same time we are debuting our new series - Tenacious Turtle Tussle - which will be open to both NA/LatAm and the EPT Asia region. We have been planning it for quite a while and now it can finally become a reality!
Each of the series will start as a biweekly tournament featuring a prize pool of $50 USD and OSC points. Just like before, the prize pool of a single event can be increased by contributions via Matcherino.
The main source of funding for our tournaments is our Patreon. Once we have enough monthly support secured to ensure that the series can continue long-term, the stretch goals can make them weekly again and later on increase the base prize pool. As always, the $5+ Patrons and Twitch Subscribers will have access to replay packs but we are open to suggestions for other incentives as well! Our current Patreon goals are:
- $300 / month - STC, GPO and TTT are fully funded as biweekly tournaments,
- $400 / month - STC once again becomes a weekly tournament,
- $600 / month - all 3 tournaments become weekly,
- $780 / month - STC will start awarding prizes to top 4 players
The sign ups for the first events will be posted next week and it would be great if everyone could share them around~ We hope we can see you all there, whether it's as a player or a viewer! We are also planning to invite the top performing players of all 3 of our tournaments to end-of-year finals, so make sure to follow the results~
