I feel the need to write something tonight. It's nothing special, I just have some thoughts...
Like many others, I have certain tasks per day, per week, per month that I want to/need to do. Some of it is work related, some of them are hobbies, and some of them are neccesary to live a good life.
Productivity is the essence of gettings things done, on time, the right way.
The path to get there however is not so easy. Some say that humans were not created to be lazy. I reckon that's probably true, but then why is it so easy to do nothing.
That's what I wonder....
I get stuck a lot.
I get into a problem, that I can't solve. It could be anything, unsure of track design in a map editor, stuck on a code in a program, a script that wont run, a directory that I can't find...
It's so easy to get stuck and when the options run low it's easy to become unproductive, when your head spins around looking for a potential solution 50 million times and it turns out it's not it. & you still can't find the right path to success.
That is a problem.
There's a saying that says in order to finish first, first you have to finish.
Many projects that are started are never finished, because people can't find the right solutions.
I remember in 2014...
I sat up a game server. In a game called CSS. I spent 4-5 hours troubleshooting the whole thing before I got it up and running. That was a super small scale project, and yet it takes a bit of effort.
Effort is great. You want to be successfull you better start off with the one thing you can control...
Your effort.
I don't know what I'm writing right now.
I just want to say, in todays age with so many distractions it's hard to stay productive. I have many things I want to do, but many projects stagnate. Time is spent on other stuff. Things are forgotten etc.
Sometimes lack of motivation comes from lack of reason. To have a why is a key step to figure out why you should move forward in the first place.
If you don't know where to go you'll eventually end up somewhere you didn't want to go to.
Take it or leave it for what it is.
Thanks for reading this chaos.

Yeah productivity is a tricky one. I actually believe that merely being (not working or paying taxes) but being a good human to your family, friends and community is being productive. In this age of Hyper-productivity small actions are often overwhelmed by humanity's massive projects.

Things will take less effort and you'll be more productive once you know what you are doing. Not being mean, that's really the way it is. Doing things the wrong way always takes a lot more time and is a lot less rewarding. Spend time sorting out your inefficiencies. This is why every discipline ever formalizes a set of 'fundamentals' which are needed to perform advanced skills effectively.
The flip side of the coin is that working on fundamentals can feel very unproductive. You can burn yourself out easily on it. But when you go back to working on real projects and everything goes so much smoother as you utilize what you've practiced, and solutions become more clear more quickly, it can be really exhilarating.
Find balance between working on fundamentals and getting real things done and you'll see how boring distractions are compared to real life.

Meh I used to struggle with his quite a bit, but now I'm not so bad. For me I just had to commit to doing a little very day and make it non optional.
Consistently doing a little bit over a long time is 100 times better than spending a lot of time and then not touching something for a while.
If you are anything like me, you should schedule 10 mins a day to do something... my problem is always getting started. Once I have started that 10 mins easily turns into 30 mins... an hour.. maybe more.
I managed to force myself to release an app and then pretty continuously update it just by scheduling a tiny bit every day. I seen an interesting ted talk form someone that had basically done the same thing and used it to achieve quite a bit.

That is just a matter of practice, the more problems you have to solve, the better you get at doing it (both by yourself and also finding answers to stuff online).

I am 8 month into learning another language right now and motivations and reasons have changed. Around month four I had lost all motivation, but since I had worked on it every single day up to that point sheer stubbornness kept me going. Eventually I came to terms with the real reason I am doing what I am doing: Because I want to.

What I do is that I just see every option of productivity like a field for advancing in human virtue and I just go ahead and try my best. From my job: I am a veterinarian, some customer calls me to go to my job at some weird time because of his dog, I go at the said time. Customer doesn't show. I don't care, I did my part, good for me, I was productive even though I did not gain money for my effort. From my hobby: I want to do better at Muay Thai. I watch videos of the most simple techniques, I repeat them at my best, first alone, then on the pads, then against a partner. I got better. But someone will smash me in a fight though. Does not matter, I am better now than I was before, I have been productive. I do my best to be like this in everything I do - I try do do it with attention and care towards fulfilling my ends. Whether I like it or not is of no matter. Things are being done if they are beneficial to me and are not shameful, not if they are pleasant.
