Taking a step back from Starcraft was a tough decision for me. It had been such a big part of my life since 2010, I had driven over 6 hours to watch MLGs back in early days. I would drive an hour with my PC to cover the local DC LANs.
I was lucky enough to marry my love in October 2016, who had supported me through all my Sc2 adventures.

I had also started competing more in Magic the Gathering modern tournaments. The largest event I attended was GP Pittsburgh which had 2,679 players. I was lucky enough to go 7-2 back when GPs had 9 round on day 1. Which made me 1 of 307 players to return on day 2.
As I started getting more and more into magic the gathering I decided to start recording and commentating my local game store's weekly modern coverage. At first it was just have fun and give everyone playing a chance to improve by being able to look back and discuss what could have been done better in each match. After a couple months of coverage my co-host and I decided we would talk with the shop owner about making the weekly tournament into a continuing league that plays for more than just bragging rights. And that was the start of Modern Magic Mondays
2 Years now I've dived head first into the world of Magic the Gathering competing and casting. We started a league that has a 10 week long season, after the 10 week the top 8 players who have earned the most match wins over this time period battle it out for store credit and cash. The prize pool is directly proportional to the number of attendees during the weekly modern tournament. We average 5 rounds of Modern and average 21 players a week. Every now and again we will have crazy high numbers like over 30 on a Tuesday night.

We are currently on our 8th season of Modern Magic Mondays with 6 unique champions with 1 two time champion. Every Season we've had At least 2 new faces in every top 8 invitational.
In addition to working on Magic the Gathering content I become a special education teacher and started Grad school. In these 2 years I was able to keep up with sc2 matches but not to the level I was when I was doing coverage until the start of 2018. I started playing and watching more sc2 and less Magic the Gathering.
Which brings me to this coming weekend... I will finally make my return to starcraft coverage with Psistorm gaming cup! 2 years has been too long to be out of this scene and I'm looking forward to working with Temp0 (again), PengWin, Miss Magitek and all the people working behind the scene to make this event happen.
I'll see you guys this weekend at the event or online!
