Hello ,

So this year there is the distinct possibility I might be able to make to Korea
with a couple of friends for about one week or so.

The main goal would be to see an ASL final , and catch any other starcraft event possible
during that visit .

I am looking for practical advice from people that have done this and I thought this is the best
place to start.

1. It doesn't look like I can buy the tickets ahead of time from overseas so I don't know what's the best way to go about this .
Any suggestions from people who know what they are talking about would be welcome.

2. Besides ASL, I have no idea how to get into other sc (one or two) events.
Does anyone know how that works ?

3. What else beside starcraft should we do ? What part of korean culture would it be
worth spending time on ?

Hey! Korea is an awesome place.

1. Unfortunately, I don't know much about ASL. When I attended, it was first-come first-serve.

2. I dunno if you mean SC as in BW and SC2, but GSL is first-come first-serve, and isn't usually full so it's easy to come and go as you please. SSL asks you to reserve ahead of time...but if there's free spots you can get in (and there usually are). Can't think of other SC events.

3. Try to take a day and go to the DMZ. I skipped going the first two times I was in Korea, and finally made it the third time. Very worth. I took a half-day trip, but there are full-day trips that see everything available.

I'd have to know what kind of traveler you are to suggest more specifics (some people like museums, some people love food tours, some people hate tours and only want to figure stuff out on their own, etc). But in general, hitting the 'top spots' is usually worth. Gangnam is fun but overrated in my opinion (but if you like fried chicken, you gotta try 'mymy chicken' in gangnam). Seoul Tower is a fun trip especially because you can get there by visiting Itaewon too, the foreigner district. The Myeongdong night market is a great place/time to try a variety of Korean street food, and experience the businesses that is Seoul.

When I first went to Seoul, I went for two weeks. I spent most of my time just traveling and walking down streets and getting lost, and I found it to be perfect for me. Visiting CVUs and trying all the snack food, street food, hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Pick a few destinations and leave a lot of room for just enjoying the experience, is my best advice.
