I think it's been almost 10 years since my last visit...

A few things that immediately strike me are:

- The breadth of games are being covered now... I see SC/SC2, but also communities around shooting games, MOBAs, and even Smash Bros! It's pretty remarkable how the community and e-sports broadly have continued to grow. I remember conventional thinking back in the mid-2000's was there being room for maybe 3 simultaneous e-sports titles with sustainable critical mass.

- New features all over the site, including Live Streams, a Store, and "Liquipedia". I remember being mightily impressed with Liquibet, which was the latest and greatest thing at the time. I'm not sure if Nazgul and Drone are still running the site, but whoever is doing it... really great job.

- It seems there's an active TeamLiquid pro team now. Very cool

Will check in again in 2027... I've got high expectations!

Hey GTR

I spent almost fives years after Razer (I left in 2008) working at Ubisoft (also here in Singapore). At Ubisoft I was the lead producer for a free to play shooter game called Ghost Recon Phantoms. I've spent the last four years running a business here called Helix Leisure - we supply software and hardware which allows theme parks, arcades, ski resorts, and all those types of entertainment facilities all around the world to operate.

It's quite a change of scenery from e-sports and video games, but a really fun industry in its own right.

Hehe, actually I organised the sponsorship for the first TSL That was probably around the last time I was involved.

Life's been good!

What prompted me to revisit TL was a random conversation with a guy I hadn't spoken to in about 16 years who found me and reached out. He was my clanmate in 1999 in Quake 1, and was talking about an "e-sports" tournament him and I had organised that same year (our recollection is the top prize was a single PC graphics card, which somehow had to be shared among the winning team in a 5v5 tournament...!) Everyone in the tourney was connected by dial-up modem, though each team was allowed one "LPB" (Low-Pinging Bastard) which was often someone working in a university computer lab. I remember in the final, which my clan (are they even called clans anymore?) lost, there were probably 20 disconnections/reconnects in aggregate between the two teams but no one got too fussed about it.

The good old days!

Things have changed just a tiny little bit in e-sports since those days

Flying cars makes driving too easy. We should limit ourselves to 2 dimensions when driving because it shows skill better. Every time you make a change to driving, it makes it easier, so it should never be done.

Look at this blatant display of elitism. Why can't we have easier driving so that it will be all about how to approach the road and car maintenance. Typical older generation drivers, holding on to nostalgia for an old paradigm.

See you in 2027 sir and I hope you'll be surprised once again

Eri started playing SC:BW again from what he wrote in BW thread.
Nazgul sometimes posts here as well, being busy with running TL bussiness :D

Drone is still around TL but doesn't do staff things to my knowledge. Nazgul is one of the owners of the website and team.

Hi Theo! Long time no see my dude! That's cool to hear about your new venture, best of luck in that.

One of the projects I'm most interested in and have decided to actively contribute to is the Brood War resurgence platform, ShieldBattery. It should dovetail quite nicely with the Starcraft: Remastered hype and I'm very excited about returning to BW in a brand new way.
