also managed to finish madmen (4 last episodes I think) and boardwalk
empire (last 2 episodes) and The News Room ( last 4 epsiodes) I'm gonna give my quick opinion about those and some random thoughts about slasher.
I put in spoilers everything that could reveal the story and this is
not a proper review but hey if anyone has watch one those four shows
give me your opinion on it.
I also give a rate out of 10 about each show because this my blog and
I do as I want, unless mom tell me otherwise of course.
Edit: I also watched the end of The News Room.
I know this is a murder/horror story so some things are to get out of
the ordinary, like stupid common sense, and luck and everything but I
will try to give my opinion about this show, i'm more of a
thriller/cops show but whatever during my teenage years I watched a
bunch of story like this and I am gonna be very critics about every
thing.
This is poorly written and are just random thoughts about each episode
not real sum-up or anything.
The plot was :
Thirty years ago, in the sleepy community of
Waterbury, a killer known as “The Executioner” murdered Sarah
Bennett’s parents. Now Sarah and her husband Dylan have returned to
town, only to find herself the centerpiece in a series of horrifying
murders centered around the seven deadly sins.

What I DID NOT read but should have :
It seems “The
Executioner” is back. But if Tom Winston – the original Executioner –
is behind bars, who is the new person behind the mask? As the murders
escalate, long-buried secrets are revealed, making everyone around
Sarah a suspector a victim.

I thought the original killer was unknown which would have been nice
in order to spice things up a little.
The serie seems to have received good critics, I don't know to me it's
just meh not trash but not exceptionnal either.
May contain some spoilers, and if you try to enjoy the show don't
read.
ALSO don't go on wikipedia HUGE spoilers about the victims.
Episode 1
+ Show Spoiler +
- We saw the killer first episode I don't like that
Why would you move to the house were your parent were
murdered, beside it being the perfect plot for a murder story, who in
his righteous mind would do that and they seem to come from afar to
add more non sense to this, let's continue.
Okay the hero seems to have grow up in the city, makes little
sense, but still, the house where you parents were murdered ? really ?
Another killer right of the bat they are not losing time, well only 8
episodes they gotta run.
Got already 2-3 suspects and some clues about is gonna die next ( like
this gay couple full of drugs and lust and rich as fuck no way they
are gonna stay alive and maybe this cop and this crazy lady).
The episode end with a discussion with the original killer, he could
be lying but this is doubtful, not a great scene but whatever the show
is gonna bet on those encounters.

Conclusion after first episode : as expected my expectations were too
high this is just another slasher ( sorry for the pun but I learned
the term is actually used to describe movies), people are gonna get
killed and at the end ( i hope ) we are gonna discover the truth, i'll
try to watch all episodes but I know this is gonna be a bit
uninteresting but hey i'm all about killer story and I wanna know the
guilty one.
Episode 2:
+ Show Spoiler +
He isn't dead ? why ? you don't beat a guy you kill him, you are the
killer, unless he go some kind of rule book about guilty and non
guilty but whatever that's weird.
Clichés: everyone is mad at at least one person, the cops are not
gonna get dictate their life by some civilian.
And strangely the original killer is bounding with sarah (or at least
trying to).
This cop is suppose to watch out for a potential murderer and he just
left him for a few minutes ...
The deadly sins seems to be the path the scenaristh chose and it's
likely to be only one victim per episode.
The episode ends with a little cliffhanger and more cooperation
between sarah and her maybe father? nah that would be too big right ?
Conclusion after episode 2: we got a routine, the show can build on
it, lots of questions I hope we at least get the answers, it's still
an average show, I read they plan to do more seasons each season
having his own plot, could be good for people who like slashers, but
it's not a great show so far and I doubt it will ever be ( maybe one
season could stand out but that's unlikely), this is american shows,
some are great most are average and some are shitty this one is barely
average.
Oh and my subtitles are desync so I still understand 95% but those
like 5% trigger me a bit.
Episode 3:
+ Show Spoiler +
Starts with a murder but not from the executioner, weird. And then some
useless scene about the connection to the others murders from a woman
that's been arrested episode 2, which can't be because this is episode
3 and we have still 5 to go and their won't be multiple killers.
Learn who the first victim of the episode was. Most stupid shooting
ever.Dirty little secrets and then on top of it the first decision
made in every horror movie: get separated especially in the
wood.Average, common, sad to see this kind of decision in a script but
at the same time those kind of mistakes are inevitable.
Still the chichat between the original killer and the hero, don't know
how I feel about that but whatever we got our victim for this episode
the plot didn't move a iota, fillers much ?
Conclusion of episode 3:
Episode 1 was the plot, second episode set ut the routine, episode 3
IS the routine, should be the same for the next 3 episodes at least.
Notes: there a subtitles in english french but also romanian and
italian, interesting.
Episode 4:
+ Show Spoiler +
A victim at the start of the episode from the executioner, that's new.
And now the couple is about to collapse.Nothing much in this episode
crazy theory going on and a bit of drama nothing thrilling.Drama about
a missing girl and some lying about that night, didn't get everything
was distracted sorry.A little bit of suspens for next episode, sarah
lost one friend might lose her husband in 1 or 2 episodes.
Conclusion of episode 4:
Like I said ROUTINE, nothing much, no informations, the plot is not
really moving forward but that's expected with this kind of story,
things happen things repeat themselves a little and then we learn the
truth.
Episode 5:
+ Show Spoiler +
Suspens from last episode didn't last long but why not.
The main journalist meets with the killer and because of the voice
changing I didn't get everything ( damn subtitles desync damn you).
A little bit more hiding things and the story goes on.
Ho and we got two victims this episode.
Okay so Dylan could be a copycat or something and the chief of police
is keeping his kids (well one missing and another not sure if it's his
) locked up, everything about dylan is just build up to keep the story
going, but the chief drama ? doesn't make any sense.
Conclusion from episode 5:
Build up some suspens, some more intrigues, but the main plot is not
moving so much beside + Show Spoiler +
the priest stuff which exclude him as a
suspect.
suspect.
+ Show Spoiler +
Episode 6:
NOT his kids, more like his fake wife and I guess the boy is the girl
son, will see.
Looks like we a "filler" or non centered plot episode about this
missing girl, you get that kind of episode in some serie they are
kinda refreshing but on a 8 based episode it sounds weird.
The plot ain't moving, they are setting the bases for the final run.
Conclusion from episode 6:
We are finally gonna learn things, not much, they are I guess gonna
build up a lot of suspens for the final, I saw 2 seconds of the
trailer for next episode: + Show Spoiler +
a man on the run ...
Episode 7:
+ Show Spoiler +
Remember when I said it would be too big, well it is, he is the
father.Let's see what's next.
So basically we learn who the executioner is, not a huge surprise
still a bit weird. It left us with one more episode and no more sins,
no more hiding the killer, maybe like a last confrontation/revelation
with sarah we will see.
Conclusion from episode 7: it's quasi-over, the killer has been
revealed, I guess the last episode will be confrontation + a role for
the + Show Spoiler +
lying husband.
Mad Men
The show is about an advertising company and all his drama.
In between until the end of this week, I watch the end of MadMen and I
don't know, they leave us with a new unknown but I don't know how they
could have finish this serie. Not a great final but an ok one, and I
think that's all we need, the show was kinda slow but in the end it
was a great experience I was particularly hooked during season 2-4, I
think that I watched during one summer, bit by bit.
The last season 5/10, the show itself 5-8/10 depending if you were
hooked for no reason like me or if you were bored AF.
Boardwalk Empire
Bootlegging during the prohibition, mafia show.
I still need to watch the end of Boardwalk Empire too, which should
have a bit more tone giving the nature of the show.
Turn out I had only 2 episodes left I watched one full and half of
another that I had already saw, if I had known I would have watched
the ending a long time ago.
I already see one or two ways for this to go and I expect one to be as
final as it can be, they have done it in the past they can do it again
but maybe they are gonna go another way just for the viewers, you
never know.
As I said to a friend : " you can only appreciate boardwalk empire
after you saw the complete season ", I don't know why but that's the
feeling I get from this show, like every season has his own story that
you can't really like until the last episode. It could be true for
others show but others are likeable during the whole season while I
think boardwalk empire build up the whole scheme and ends on a high
note, don't know if that makes sense to anyone.
This season was kinda slow and the time passing throw me off guard a
little bit, the ending is how I envisaged it with a little twist and
quite a dark tone, I like the ending but didn't enjoy the season as
much as the others.
This last season 6/10, the show itself 7-8/10.Overrall it was a great
show that deserve to be more known ( never heard anyone beside ONE
friend talking about it in my country ) and the atmosphere is so well
depicted.
The News Room:
A news channel show
again I didn't know the last season was so short, I would have watched
everything but hey its' never too late.
I like the show mostly because I stumble accross a single other news
reporting show before and it can give great stories.I don't really
remember the first season, but I liked it and the second one was good
too with a plot that I quite like, season 3 started a bit big if I
recall correctly so let's see what those last 3 episodes are like.
This season : 6-7/10. The show itself 5-6-(7)/10, seven if you are
really into it,and 5 because it's not unforgettable.And I might be
dumb (I know I am) but sometimes it gets a bit too technics but they
keep the tempo high, which doesn't seem natural or realistic to me
(but once again I am dumb so this might just be how normal people talk
everyday in those fields [ news, economics, politics, laws, even in them
personal life dialogue] ).I feel like they overdid everything but at
the same time it's a show, so mixt feeling am I being picky ? Maybe.
The final was good, almost great I would say, it is what is expected
from a final (or more what I expect from one): every main characters
is getting a future, they come back to the bases of the show,it was a
bit emotional and they ended up exactly how they should have, great
final.
Great summer experience for me I don't regret stumbling accross this
one.
Rating before the final (because I believe a story [book or movie or
show even songs ] should be rated before and after the final):
Giving the nature of the show ( slasher, not so common even though for
horror part you got American Horror Story, a remade of scream and some
other show I don't know about at all),and giving the fact that it
didn't overdid with ultra gore scene, and because they try to stick to
a simple plot with some twist, I give this show a note of 5 out of 10
(I was originally gonna rate it between 3 and 5 but I'm in a good mood
and all things considered it was not that bad).I have been watching
great show and i'm sorry but this is just average and a bit too cliché
to get a better grade a maximum of 6/10 if you like it but not much
let's stay serious ( it was a nice try though keep it up if you have
been working on the show don't be too discouraged you are good ).
Episode 8:
+ Show Spoiler +
Really he killed his mother, just like that and there was
already a mask story ? I don't know how I feel about disturbed
childhood like this, too much ?Well nothing to surprising happening
...My big guess is she gets pregnant with that, that would be the most
cliché and twisting thing to write about, the scene was a bit weird
with the forensic team just walking out, what if they came back ?I
guess she is gonna find the dead priest, right ?She found his hand, no
face but we guess it's him, it seems that she want to take the matters
into her own hands, let's see how it goes.Really ? she fell from the
sideway? she was hit to the arm not the leg don't do that thanks.Come
on the guy has been stabbed to the abdomen and he is moving/fighting
like nothing happened, please don't do that either.Wait they killed a
man and they are not being charges at all ? legitimate defence I
guess, I want the pregnant scene, please do that instead of all your
shit.Ok I get a little bit ahead of myself, not mystery pregnancy in
sight, little end scene was okayish for this show.

Conclusion from episode 8:
Not a lot of surprise just a correct ending, nothing much to say a bit
too dramatic maybe but that's okay.
Final rate after the ending : 5/10, it didn't save the serie,if you
like slashers watch it, if you don't walk away nothing to see really.
