* Quit caffeine
- I was actually really surprised I was able to do this having tried multiple times before and failing. This time I tapered off using pills and it seemed like that made it a lot easier. Really happy with this, falling asleep is way easier. My energy is more consistent throughout the day. Less anxiety
* Quit Weed
- Oh weed you will always have a special place in my heart for the good times but it seems I can't keep you as a once in a while special treat so we can't see each other anymore... When I stopped I had vivid dreams for about a month which were cool when they were nice but there were nightmares as well ): . Feel less anxiety, less self-hate, more productive.
*Alcohol
-Noticed I was craving drinking a lot when I stopped weed. Just decided to nip that one in the bud. Not really a heavy drinker before so not really a big deal.
* New Job
- Found a new web development job that's a lot easier on my hands than my old job (I have carpal tunnel / RSI pain) it's only 35 hours a week. The downside is it's probably retarding my development compared to a more intense position. However it doesn't really matter if I'm a great web developer if I blow out my hands and I think making improvements to my personal life will trickle into my professional.
* Yoga + Exercise
- I've been doing my carpal tunnel yoga pretty consistently and I walk to work now but I think I could be doing better. My injuries prevent me from doing certain things but I there's nothing stopping me from researching and building a routine that works around them.
* Diet
- I've been eating vegan which is good because it blocks me from eating 4 cheesy mcfuckyous. My weed habit lead to a pretty bad fast food thing where I'd like leave my house @ 11 to go to a drive through. I'm still eating kind of unhealthy as a vegan (lots of pan frying) but I get lots more vegetables and I do feel better. I've dropped some body fat and I don't have any of the stomach problems I use to (coffe contributed to those as well)
Goals going forward:
* NoFap
- I know this one is a bit controversial but I've done it before and thought it helped a lot. I have a lot of the same 'bingy' behavior towards porn and jerking off that got me in trouble with weed. I also definitley have an unhealthy 'neck beard' attitude towards women. When I see a hot girl I have lots of negative thoughts about my self, and sort of an angry resentment towards women. I might have to sort that out in therapy but who knows maybe not jerking off will help. I'm about 7 days into it now.
* Internet
- I've sort of tamed reddit by making my default subreddits positive but I still spend a lot of time mindlessly browsing. The internet is tricky because obviously there is lots of good and helpful things on it and you can't just cut it out entirely like weed. So I'm going to target something I know is bad which is twitch/ watching gaming videos.
Once I've accomplished those 2 things for 30 days I'll identify other life leaks and plan on tackling those.
I've noticed that a lot of my bad habit sort of prop each other up (caffeine -> not sleeping) (weed -> fast food) so I've thought of trying to make a diagram showing all the dependencies and start eliminating the more 'foundational' habits. That's pretty nerdy even for me so we'll see lol.
