I want to watch Proleague very badly. But apparently noone in there cares for match fixing. I wish we'd receive an update. I'm not watching Proleague currently. I lost complete trust in that.
I'm pissed like hell that the thread got locked. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/starcraft-2/481281-pinnacle-voids-byul-vs-marineking-match?page=64
it's the worst thing that can happen. instead of keeping the discussion (though its redundant) active and going, putting community pressure on some people, the thread is being locked. well great let's just not talk about it anymore and prevent it didnt happen. I know this is your house, TL, so I won't start a fight or something but I'm really disappointed in that decision.
Just wanting to let people know. Fuck "investigations", lots of blah blah. If rekrul is right, I'm done with sc2.

You admit that the discussion is redundant but you're still upset the thread got locked?
What?

What? I rather have a redundant discussion that keeps attention on topic than "well here's nothing, go discuss it". it's a rant, don't nail me on it -.-

The threads are closed because they eventually devolve into fearmongering and baseless accusations (I'm looking at you dsousa). As long as the thread has productive discussion and new information it is kept open. Whenever something new happens we allow the discussion to continue in a new thread. Repeating the same worries and concerns ad infinitum doesn't put any more pressure on them, unfortunately. As much as I want to suggest some better means to pressure the relevant organizations into revealing more, I have no better ideas.
As much as we want to believe otherwise, TL has no power over these organizations. I can pester them all I want; if their PR has no announcement they will not reveal anything.
In the meantime, there are many other tournaments that have yet to be marred with matchfixing allegations. There is no reason to give up on those pros who are innocent and give their very best in every match. Support the ones that do the right thing and play the right way. The matchfixers should not represent the scene as a whole.

Thanks for that huge evaluation! I didn't expect that to happen because my blog was more a "omg match fixing sucks I wish it would stop rant" but a "TL moderation sucks" rant. It's just really frustrating for pretty much everyone .

bring back double blind lineups, yes its harder on the progamers to prepare, but it would actually help both the scene and the game itself.

One of the greatest things about watching GSTL was seeing who would come out to counter who. In proleague, this only happens in the ace match and I always thought the dynamics was way cooler to see it happen the whole match.

double blind lineups used to be the case in the last 2 1/2 seasons of BW proleague(and the ugh hybrid league), introduced right after the matchfixing scandal, the thing with GSTL was that it was played in winner's league format anyway so you wouldn't be able to tell whos playing in the matches after the first one until after it has been played.

There is no reason they couldn't do it fairly though. Publish the match map order ahead of time, and have the first match players per-determined as they currently do. After that, have the winning team choose their player for the next map, and the losing team gets a chance to counter their pick by choosing their player second. Doing this theoretically would keep each match more competitive, and as a result, would make the standings less lopsided. I think this would keep things more interesting than the double blind method from previous iterations of proleague.
The sad truth though, is that no matter what the rules are, there are always opportunities for corruption via match-fixing. As long as there are players or coaches willing to match fix, it will continue to be a problem.

The sad truth though, is that no matter what the rules are, there are always opportunities for corruption via match-fixing. As long as there are players or coaches willing to match fix, it will continue to be a problem. Sure, but if you make something annoying enough to do, most people won't do it. There's just a balance of making sure you don't punish innocent people at the same time. Unfortunately these problems are frequently dealt with by increasing the punishment for the violation, which actually seems to do nothing because often people think they won't get caught.
Doing double blind or counter pick every season unfortunately has the negative effect of decreasing the quality of the games. No preparing for a specific matchup, no preparing for a single player. But that's why the individual leagues exist, I guess.
