If I haven't made it clear yet I love Pokémon, I really do. It's such a fun series of games to play and to relax with. So for what felt like the 367th time I decided yesterday to replay Pokémon Emerald, the original remake/new version of Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire which focused on the third legendary Pokémon of the Weather Trio Rayquaza.
This time however I decided to do make a team of Pokémon I have either extremely rarely or never used on my team. After roughly 6 hours of gameplay I have made it through the first 6 gyms (to give some perspective, it usually takes me 10-11 hours of gameplay to make it that far iirc) with a team of Marshtomp, Swellow, Breloom, Swalot, Torkoal. I plan on getting a spheal when I get that far in the game.
The point I am trying to make is that my impulse decision to try something new I never have before turned out to be a surprisingly enormous success and it has caused me to reflect. Overall, I am not someone who tends to experiment outside my comfort zone. I don't normally try new things. In most cases if I have, it tends to be a direct result of my father pressuring me to do so. Although most of the time his suggestions end up being good ones, I remain hesitant in trying something new.
Though it seems ridiculous that Pokémon would be the catalyst that causes this change, it seems to be the case nonetheless and so I make this pledge to always try new things and to not be so judgmental.
Oh and before you even say a goddamn word, no this does not mean I plan on using illegal substances, falling into the temptation of peer pressure etc... I'm not weak.

Hey dude try this, all the cool kids are doi....oh my bad nvm.

to be honest, for in game usage, it doesn't really matter what pokemon you pick

there's just a huge difference between someone else (your father) telling you something and learning it for yourself...

Marshtomp, breloom and Swellow were awesome back in the 3rd gen era. Only Breloom retained any usefulness in the modern era though.
I might try this myself tbh, I recently found my original Ruby cart as well as my Leaf Green cart. I remember doing something like this in Black and White but I have more favourites back from the GBA days so it's harder to pick stuff that is different to what I used to use.

I found this to be a fun thing to do (that is, replaying pokemon games using pokemon I never really used before)
I played fire red recently and used Arcanine (ok I always use Arcanine because he is the motherfucking best), Gengar, Jolteon, golem, rhydon, and golbat. None of those are that weird or anything but they're pokemon I never really used in my main party. I decided enough with using legendaries and starters and stuff
Also I kinda want to try a nuzlocke challenge or w/e they're called

good luck and enjoy the ride

Also I kinda want to try a nuzlocke challenge or w/e they're called dont start nuzlocke on firered/leafgreen or emerald, especially if you pick torchic, it is extremely difficult, 4th gen starting with turtwig is pretty easy, especially if you can snag a starly
