For my 35k post, I am listing the most notable and influential teammates that I have seen in my... very experimental 3v3 and 4v4 journeys in the last few months. While many players that I found notable did not make the cut due to memory loss, I find this list to be an accurate representation of the tenacity and persistence of those who journey alone into the void of random teams.

Many of these players were rigorously tested. In order to find the best of the best, I and a few companions set out to mass economy and feed one player as many resources as possible. This gave many of them the tools to prove their worth. Those who were fed resources are marked as (fed), and those who weren't are marked as (not fed)

This power rank features one game for each player, as many of them were, in fact, random people, and I never saw them again after one game. While there are some notable exceptions where I have played a lot with the player, using more than one game as example would generally give more attention to them and would probably be unfair.

Honorable Mention

SetGuitarsToKill

Although SGTK was an important player in many of these games and is found in nearly every single one of them, he was never the leading role, nor did he ever decide the game by himself. He is, however, often found as a side player, either feeding the main one or finding his own way to make a mark on the game. Some of the players in this PR could not have been found to be as good or bad as they were without SGTK. Big thanks to him.

Dishonorable Mention

Bear

When SetGuitarsToKill, Cricketer, and I decided to play the new Archon Mode arcade map, we found that someone named Bear had joined our team. We were slightly nervous that he might not be on the same page as us when it came to who did what, but it turned out there really was no reason to be nervous, as he would do no wrong while on our team.

I don't think he got the point of Archon Mode though...

Power Rank

+ Show Spoiler +
10. OGMECH (fed)

OGMECH has two distinct characteristics. First of all, the ID OGMECH is in ALL CAPS, which makes it really hard to refer to OGMECH as OGMECH too many times without filling the screen with OGMECH. If OGMECH was lowercase, reading OGMECH over and over would be easier, but OGMECH is read as OGMECH.

Additionally, he is not a great player, as my ally and I were soon to discover. Note that he was in a 3v3 where we intended to feed him resources.

One of the opponents opened with a cannon rush that was designed to hit all of our bases at once. Clearly, he was a Has fan. However, OGMECH was not satisfied with repelling the cannon rush. He had to eliminate the probe too.

Of course, another opponent opened mass reaper and cleaned up those pulled probes very quickly. OGMECH decided it was then a good time to build a gateway, then a cybernetics core, and then another gateway, before making a zealot. By the time he did this, reapers had eliminated all three of us, as none of us had units and the game was pretty much over as OGMECH left the game. I tried going mass BC off three gold islands, but it was to no avail.

9. Jon (fed)

Protoss players were not very good in this power rank, as you can see. Jon was similar in many ways to OGMECH. Unlike OGMECH, however, Jon seemed content to sit back and actually make a lot of units as his two allies fed him money. He did not seem to be happy about it, as he insisted on trolling.

Being MKP is cheating

Once the game was underway, though, he seemed to notice he was earning way more money than he should have, as he started creating a lot of production facilities on one base.

He actually seems to understand the concept of being fed. Impressive.

Of course, I took the opportunity to accuse him of resource hacking, but he shrugged it off and actually made units. His army of choice, stalkers and immortals, looked reasonable, but then he blinked all of his stalkers into heavy tank fire and his immortals were easily cleaned up by marines. He was not able to recover from this, especially as he sat at 18k resources and 56/200 supply for a while after that battle..

However, he was definitely better than OGMECH. That's all I can really say about him to be honest.

8. Clothes (fed)

Clothes was under a bit of pressure. He was also being fed, and my ally and I took that to the extreme. In my defense, he deserved what he got. He saw he had 7k resources 10 minutes into the game, a feat even certain bronze players I know can't match, so he took all of his units... and landed a CC at the gold -_-

Seriously, do you really need more money?

Clothes was the first player on this PR to actually threaten the opponents, as he went for a very normal-looking mass marine/marauder with a few vikings. He even adjusted to the opponents, switching to 7 starport vikings as they revealed their mass Protoss air strategy.

Yellow seriously has some issues with how many workers he's made. Oh wait, that's me.

However, he never seemed to realize the insanity of the situation. He seemed completely oblivious to my ally and I literally never making units. His micro was not nonexistent but needed to be better. He needed to look further, but never did. He lived ignorant, and he died ignorant... with 82k resources.

To be honest, though, this does happen quite a lot.

7. Majesticoose (not fed)

"What if we just both nuked in a 3v3 and saw how our ally reacted?"

Majesticoose was the unfortunate recipient of this test, but he did not seem to mind. He was even OK with me hiding ghost academies in his base.

Majesticoose is the line between bad allies and good ones. He played completely standard, expanded, made a gateway + robotics army, and was reasonable with his army movement. This could be any protoss player in the world. There was absolutely nothing wrong with his attitude, he paid attention to the opponents and his own income alike, and, when we inevitably lost, he accepted it and left the game.

Why 7th? Well, I think we can all agree that none of the players below this were very good. The players above Majesticoose stood out a bit more. They made an effort. They saw unusual situations, and they tried to do something with them, or they made their own interesting battles.

To make this slightly less serious, let me show you the appeal of this game.

There are a ton of nukes in the replay, too, so be sure to check that out.

6. Scarlett (not fed)

I know what you're thinking. "There are 5 better players than Scarlett on this list? Yeah right. You're just biased against Scarlett, as usual." But that's not quite what this implies. This rank is a list of teammates, and is partly based on how good a teammate they are. Skill level is not the only factor here.

Scarlett was not a great teammate. She took control of the situation and made it what she wanted. Additionally, she took her level down in order to humiliate her opponents. How could this be?

Well, she opened with a cannon rush in this game.

And as you can see, certain fans of her are praising her ability to get an ally's overlord to give vision for her cannons.

I found some of her decisions in this game somewhat questionable. I mean, look, she double expands on the back of a cannon rush. This is seriously not a good idea, and she should have realized that our opponents were about to rush.

She even transfers workers to an unsafe base right as zerglings sneak in.

Five cannons? Really? And what about that positioning? She went DTs, which is more of an individual thing than anything that might help the team, and she had to rely on someone else sniping the observer to make it work.

Double expanding to the opponents' bases? Why would you do this? Your opponents are killing your allies.. you should probably do something about that instead.

...Ok, at this point I think you're just trolling. Seriously... honestly, I'm shocked at her selfishness. Clearly, she cares more about the architecture of her rush than her actual teammates. She took her damn sweet time to make sure her cannon wall was perfectly aligned.

However, thanks to my leadership and KingofdaHipHop's mutalisks, we managed to do most of the work towards closing out the game. I guess Scarlett landed the finishing blow which is nice. Although, based on the fact she used blink stalkers, it's pretty obvious she is a patchtoss.

"rekt"? So BM.

As demonstrated here, Scarlett is really bad at teamwork. She completely abandoned all hope on the defense in an effort to mess with the opponents as much as possible.

5. The_Templar (not fed)

Yes, I am in my own power rank, and I am totally not biased about this.
As you can see, I had amazing tactics in order to lift to the semi-island bases on the 4v4 map Halcyon. Chaos aka Jer99 is not happy about this at all.

However, I had only 5 slots with which I could bring my SCVs, as I did not realize the potential of how one could load SCVs into the CC (See the #1 player's replay). The only reasonable thing to do was build a new base, but where? Next to the opponents, of course.

The only legitimate strategy here was to go mass BC. Anything else would be silly.

Jer99 accused me of being on the other team with my lack of help, which made me realize. I had the ability to defeat BOTH teams at once. I was such a good teammate, that I could be my own team.

Additionally, I was a fun teammate, as shown by the below evidence.

+ Show Spoiler +
Yes, lifting the CCs was on accident.

The difference between this game and Scarlett's game is that while she was clearly a patchtoss, I won with battlecruisers, making me way superior.

4. Koa (not fed)

Koa was like Majesticoose. He was thrust into a situation where his allies were playing like complete idiots, and he had to deal with it just like the other had. However, while Majesticoose behaved as if it was a normal game, Koa took charge of the situation and made it possible.

Wouldn't you be terrified if you hopped into a random 4v4 and you saw this upon starting the game?

Koa thought little of it. He knew that the best way to be a team member was to go along with the rest of the team, and he realized how organized our plan was.

How do you compliment three proxy bases? Baneling bust.

Because of Koa's superb thinking and leadership, we managed to easily secure a win.

3. Grizzly (fed)

Grizzly was, like many, given the heavy burden of killing a team 1v3, with economic help from his two allies. This is no easy task, especially if you have no such expectations of the situation and your allies are acting as if it's a normal game. Indeed, both of us initially fell to rushes, and it looked like this game would be over very quickly.

However, he was not Bear. He would not give up like Bear did, with an inconvenience setting him back. He was Grizzly, and he would fight back.

He kept the opponents busy with constant attacks, base denials, and harassment, while SGTK and I re-established several bases each, allowing us to increase Grizzly's income through the roof. He eventually managed to power through the opponents with a hefty ground army.

2. PlateCaptain (fed)

PlateCaptain was nearly the only person that really got what the feeding was about. In order to win a 4v4 with a feeding strategy, you had to gain some advantage over the opponents. You only have 200 possible army supply, the have at least 560 (If they have 60 workers each). They can make units from two or three races. They have four times your APM, they have the ability to quadruple drop you and attack with a maxed army at the same time.

PlateCaptain got a quick Lair, and quickly built a spire upon seeing how fast his money was increasing.

Due to his incredible 12 (!) base income, he was able to quickly get 24 mutalisks.

The opponents realized too late that they needed to fear the number of mutalisks PlateCaptain was producing. They got wrecked.

Pink must have some serious issues with how much income and workers he has. Oh wait, that's me.

1. zirk (fed)

zirk is a god.

From the outset, it was clear that zirk knew exactly what we were doing. Despite his only chat message being "?" when we were all complimenting him at the beginning of the game, he clearly understood the ways of being fed in 4v4s. I think that he figured out what his team was like as soon as the game started, though.

Like PlateCaptain, he opted to go mass mutalisks. However, zirk's mutalisk control is far more impressive as three of his opponents were clearly very skilled players.

Here, you can see zirk abusing the green player's simcity in order to kill everything in his base.

Why did he even have that many supply depots anyway, and why weren't they ever lowered?

zirk knew that his allies were the source of his vast wealth, and he sought to protect us.

Although he had been slowly whittling down the armies of the other three players, they had gone double marine/medivac and mass phoenixes with a ground army, so winning with mutalisks only would prove to be difficult.

Purple has some serious issues with MULEs. Oh wait, that's me.
I knew that we needed more cash for zirk to use so I kicked my income into high gear.

The opponents killed all of our bases, as zirk had difficulty touching three armies that all hard-countered his.
However, there was no way the opponents would ever find this expansion!!!!!

Hidden in plain sight

However, zirk eventually lost his drones and hidden hatcheries, meaning that he had to GG with 65090 minerals and 29693 gas.

What a god.

Zirk is above PlateCaptain on this power rank because he had to stare in the face of adversary, and he knew that he had to do every damn thing he could in order to conjure up a win. He was the best of teammates. He understood everything that we were doing, and tried to use it to the best of his advantage, to protect us at nearly any cost. zirk never gave up on his goal, and played his heart out for the entire game.

A battle well fought.
Zirk is a god.
