SALT updates:
I have no idea where SALT was at when I last made an update So here's some new stuff that I did:
SALT is moving BACK into custom games! When extension mods were released I created an extension mod version and erased the custom game versions to try and remove confusion. Obviously since it's supposed to be a mod played on top of a map that makes sense...
Little did I know that there was a MAJOR Blizzard bug with extension mods which prevents banks from working. (banks are what save data between sessions in SC2 games). I notified Blizzard of the bug and how massive it was. They agreed that it needed to be patched and said they would get on it... 9 months later still no word other than "yeah, we totally need to get round to doing that...".
Honestly, Blizzard can sometimes be as bad at procrastination as me! That's saying a lot!
So from now on SALT can be found in custom games (NOT, I repeat NOT arcade and also NOT extension mods). Also I'm using the SEA server as my test server since it's a much smaller server so SALT might be a little unreliable on SEA for a short time. If you have any issues try NA.
Bitching about the bank bug:
+ Show Spoiler +
"Why is the bank bug so big?" you ask? Well, in this case I need banks to be able to save build orders that people create. Without it they get erased every game. and then people complain to me that it is broken. I've explained to people that it's not my fault and shown them a work around by exporting/importing data to a local file... but people don't care WHY something is broken. They only care THAT it's broken. I'll chalk that up to another life lesson learned from this project.
"Doesn't matter if somethings not your fault. If you're in charge of a project then it IS your fault. Blaming others doesn't help anyone." - turtles, 20/11/2014.
Also there's a guy hoping to start up a kickstarter campaign for a bunch of arcade games and I've offered to help with the racing game (mario kart style racing) in SC2. For that I would also like to do it in an extension mod to allow the community to make the maps for it. But without banks working with extension mods that makes it harder.

So in lieu of waiting for Blizzard to fix their bug I'm moving it all BACK to the custom games list.
It does have a silver lining though, the custom games list allows you to add extension mods to the game... which is a good segway to talk about...
LOTV
When the LOTV test mod comes out in a week or so it should only take a small amount of time to ensure compatibility. Then SALT can be used with LOTV mod! You can already use it with the mods that are out there for the new economy changes. Or even random mods like zombie mods or wandering mineral mods.
But back on track, it should only take me a few days after the LOTV mod and subsequent LOTV beta come out until people can create build orders and refine their practice 100 fold using this tool.
Personal stuff
I GOT A MOTORBIKE!
A 900 cc blue behemoth with enough power to feel as if I can take off fast enough that my internal organs are left behind like in a cartoon. I've named it Neville as the first two letters on the liscence plate are "NV" and I've always felt that vehicle names should be based off the liscence plate letters. But I've nick-named it "Blue beetle" after the DC comic character.
I also took a holliday to Nowra and rode there along the twisty road through Kangaroo valley (dashcam footage not mine)
So you can imagine how much fun I had doing that with an empty road on the bike!
Otherwise I spent the week hanging out on beaches, playing playstation, a bit of rock climbing and a whole lot of fishing while wondering why I can never catch any fish.
tldr version:
4 announcements:
- I will be removing SALT from the extension mods, look for it on individual maps by searching for SALT in custom games list.
- I promise to stop bitching about the bank bug from this point onwards!
- You will soon be able to use SALT to practice LOTV build orders and engagements!
- when I started this blog I promised cat pictures but have not yet delivered. So here is a picture of one of my cats attacking batman:
And here is a photo of the cat attacking me when I tried to step in and save the caped crusader from becoming meowmix:
Please ignore all the mess in the background. I cleaned it up already! Stop judging me.
