Damn, boys and girls, i want longboard.
Dunno why, but i want it.

Not only to ride in my favourite places in Moscow.
Not only to move faster because my knees are barely alive after bunch of operations and ligations and i want to run 10km once a week without feeling like i can't even reach metrostation now after i stopped.

I want to paint it. Make it a real wonder, object of jealousy. At least, to laugh when i see it.

But idk, will i be able to move as fast as i want in centre of Moscow when there are millions of people.

;/
I was going hard on rollerskates before, even aggressive rollers but after my ligaments fractured third time i stopped. And i never enjoyed bicycle. Probably will get another scooter if no longboard, seems like it's popular in city now, i see a lot of scooters for kids/adults/oldguys/almost every class of people.

Not sure a longboard is the way to go to save your knees, I would say a bike is the way to go but... Russia.

Bike would be worse for knees, but longboard is not very good for them either. Especially when you fall due to cracks in the road, gravel, etc. It is inevitable.

Get a Razor scooter. All of the kids will be jealous. You could roll down the streets of Moscow looking like this:

I used to play random, but for you I play very specifically.

Depending on how bad your knees are, longboard is probably not the way to go. If you're not bombing hills downhilling like a maniac, then you might be able to ride a longboard(you still bend your knees when you kick for speed etc).

I still love longboards, I went through my skateboard phase, and found that longboards were just a ton more fun imo. Russia sounds like one of the worst possible places for that though lol. If you wanna get a longboard and paint it, get the parts and assemble it yourself (this will cost you less than a normal longboard if you are used to assembling them, but if not you'll probably screw up and have to reorder stuff) and then you can paint whatever you want. If you want to dodge that process, save up the money and buy a higher end longboard like a Loaded longboard. Before all that though, you should figure out what size you want, and whether or not you can actually legally ride it or if its comfortable to ride. No longboard will survive that snow, and the ride won't be comfortable. So you could only really ride it during the spring and summer, even more so, if you want to bomb hills away from people that won't be bad for your knees, but if you want to go riding far distances its going to use your knees a lot. You should try if possible to go to a longboard shop or talk to someone about it.

My advice: Do it if you love to love it, but have a plan. Scooters may be popular now so that may be a better choice for you, but the two will be just as bad for your legs most likely.

docvoc i beg to differ on your view of bombing hills without taking damage to already damaged knees. One can not bomb hills standing straight.

is a razer scooter a respectable manually operated vehicle? I just picture twelve year olds.

Longboards on the other hand have a smooth surfer image. you can snake/carve down a fourty foot hills of moderate steepness, hair wind-ruffled stylishly. if you have had your tony hawk phase with the pebbles you are pretty unlikely to go down to them on a long board. those things feel almost off road-ish or akin to bicycles compared to the other boards, birdhouse, element, flip etc. Also much more quiet.

Honestly, i don't want to do any tricks until i feel myself ready to 100%, just want some vehicle to move faster in city, because i despise cars and Moscow traffic sucks + metro in such weather is just unbelievably bad. But it seems hard to walk 7-8 hours without feeling sick occassional pain.
And some of my friends use it and say that it's fast and enjoyable.

About painting, idk. I enjoy drawing on shirts/sneakers but i never tried to paint vehicles. That's why i want to fill that gap.

Thought same about scooter but after seeing like every 10th guy in centre of Moscow riding it (age doesn't matter at all), i think that it's ok.

I used to longboard alot before I moved to Berlin, but here in the city I hardly use it anymore. Too many obstacles, going up and down sidewalks at every crossroad. Bikes seem to be much more conventient way of moving around in the city.

Also, longboarding is very demanding on your knees, every push to gain/maintain speed is like taking another step up a staircase. And you're going to fall, alot, always when you're not expecting it.

It's incredibly fun however away from the traffic, when you can just cruise along an empty bikeline enjoying the landscape..
