I haven't blogged in a long time. Partially because I've been super lazy right now and partially because I realized I'm even more lazy than I thought lol. However, I have a problem, and I thought the internet would be the perfect place to get an answer for it.
In all seriousness, I feel like I have bugs crawling all over me. The worst part is, there are no bugs. This specifically happens when I close my eyes to go to bed, but its not limited to just that time. When I close my eyes, I feel crawling sensations across my body. It's really weird and kind of surreal almost, but it feels like ticks or ants are scaling my body - which, by the way, are two very different feelings if you've ever had the displeasure and poor luck to experience either.
The feelings really aren't that bad, but they cause me some distress when it comes to getting to sleep. Nothing super-duper-insanely difficult to get over, but still its definitely no fun. I'm not running low on sleep because of this, but last night was definitely the worst it had ever been, and I just could not get to sleep in my own bed, and I had to sleep on the couch.
For some background, I sleep with pets in my small bed. Both pets, a dog and a cat who get along really well, decided my bed was going to be ground zero for sleeping while I was in Argentina. The dog and cat already slept in the beds in my house before, but now they're basically trained to do so. Both of them have had ticks and tick problems because we live in a wooded area of south-western TN, this is only really the case during summer and spring however - otherwise known as right now.
The problems have never been huge, no more than 1-2 ticks over a span of a month after they've received anti-tick medicines that go on their coats. I have, however, had ticks crawl on me, and bite me and hang off me, which is no big deal really, you just take them off. It's not like its a huge problem, though the point where they leave the body becomes kinda itchy.
So my question is, what should I do about this? When I'm not thinking about it, there are no problems, but when I close my eyes to go to sleep I get this feeling. I'm not suffering from some crazy phobia, I don't fear the bugs, but the feeling is annoying and won't let me sleep as well as I'd like. I tried one remedy by putting on a shirt and changing beds, but in reality I slept with the animals on the couch cuz they followed me there. So TL, what do you think my options are?
Do you mean fleas? I have to put this anti-flea goop on my cats necks every month or so or they'll have fleas and constantly scratch and take them with me into bed. It's definitely not just a sensation if that's the case lol, they'll actually camp your bed.
As fun as it is to have pets in bed I've been closing the door behind me for the last year as my cats tend to fight, take up all space and leave hair everywhere
Do you actually have ticks in your bed is this just yor imagination? Cause I can't figure that out.
Nvm, I missed one of the paragraphs.
Try doing some physical exercises and going to sleep really tired. I sometimes have similar issues, although not as extreme as yours. As you mentioned, you get this feeling when you're thinking about it - reading this got made me feel uncomfortable lol. Thus, the moment that you're too tired to even think about it is when you should be able to fall asleep more easily.
I have the same problem as you. Sometimes it doesn't affect me at all, sometimes it isn't too bad, and sometimes it's unbearable. For me, I've found that it's all psychological, but sometimes I still can't get over it even though I know this. Unlike you, however, I do have a slight fear of bugs, or at least, bugs crawling on me, so I believe that's where it stemmed from.
What helps for me is cleaning my sheets and blanket, and taking a shower before I go to bed. When I know for certain that myself and my bed are absolutely clean, then I can sleep pretty comfortably. Make sure your pets are clean, too! Just being at ease mentally can go a long way, at least for me.
And now I need to shower and clean my sheets/blanket =_=
I definitely don't have fleas. The feeling isn't flea like either. Also I already go to bed pretty tired seeing as I go to bed late cuz I'm an idiot and I'm really active athletics wise. The clean sheets thing may work.

lmao
In all seriousness, it's a common psychological problem. My sister deals with it too. I'd say step 1 is take preventative measures (which it sounds like you did). Check those animals daily for fleas, ticks, whatever. Clean your sheets everyday. If that doesn't work, talk to a psychologist.
The mind is really powerful. I recently had a panic attack where it felt like I was having a heart attack. I KNEW I wasn't, but it felt that way. It's somewhat related I think. You have to talk yourself down.
Nice blog. Fleas and ticks are some of the common disease which your pets can easily catch. In the recent years the prevention of flea and tick has become easier and effective. Certain new products like Frontline Plus have been launched in the market which immediately ceases the reproduction cycle of the fleas and ticks and stops their migration from one pet to other. In order to have more knowledge about the different preventives available in the market you can consult with your veterinarian too.
