We were required to have them for algebra II in 9th grade.

There was this girl in my class who would always peek over other peoples shoulders when we had tests. It would annoy the living daylights out of me, especially since it was so blatantly obvious and that she never asked or excused herself even when I caught her and gave her stink eye. This was in 5th or 6th grade and we were going to have the history test right after recess. Some of us went outside, others stayed at their desk. We had those personal desks, where you can lift the top and store your stuff inside. The girl in question was scribbling on her desk, put a piece of paper over it and then went outside. I went over and lifted the paper, lo and behold she had written down some key notes on her desk. I quickly erased everything and put the paper back. I had my back against her so unfortunately I didn't get to see her face when she moved the paper but all in all it was very satisfactory. If anyone saw anything they didn't call me out on it.

Unless you're planning to work at a convent, you're going to be faced with these kinds of dilemmas all the time once you're out of school. Not cheating but society deemed amoral behavior. Surprised you didn't get reamed. That would've been a nice life lesson. You're fucked if you get caught at university. You're also fucked if you get caught outside of school. But sometimes it's necessary if the stakes are high enough. I used to have a moral stance about cheating (lol), then I actually started to face real life choices. And you'll find that instead of black and white, everything turns into a shade of grey. That's the same approach I had, actually. I had cheated in other occasions and it worked, but I knew there was always risk involved. Actually the main reason why I stopped cheating from then is that if they caught me once more, there were chances that everything would come out and the shitstorm would have been real. In university you choose what you are studying more or less, that's why I think you shouldn't really be cheating, it means you are unable to take choices.

It was a timed, essay with 10 questions in which we could had to choose 7 to answer. I wrote the essay the night before and at the time of the test, I took out a blank test and put the written one under it. I turned it in after I watched like 8 people turn it in. Lucky for me, I got an A in the course and it was one less final I had to study for.

In my case, I was fortunate to get caught really really early. During the elementary school, I was one of those high-grade kids except there was one course I couldn't figure out and tried to cheat after pressure got to me. Of course having no experience with cheating at all I got caught really easily, and considering my age, circumstance and usual academic performance was punished fairly lightly. Except in my childish mind, it was frigging End of the World. I thought I was going to die. It was effectively one of the most miserable experiences I've ever had and put me off cheating forever. Not surprised some of other people have similar experiences getting caught and becoming discouraged never to do so again.

Main one was plagiarism, assignments and the like were usually never my work. I was lucky enough to have friends who didn't care and trusted me to de-plagiarise so there would be no blowback. Helped my friends in exams if they were sitting behind me, usually have the answer sheet hanging off your desk a little so they can see. I never did that one though, even though it was common. Looked at other people's answer sheets during exams, certain lecture theatres are really easy to do this in because of the layout. Most people are seated in a diagonal direction so you can easily spot multiple choice sheets below you so you can check your answers against theirs. Also helps if you know the people in front of you, especially if they're smart ![]() The riskiest one i did was using my phone inside the toilet for a final exam. I don't actually take my phone out and put it on the floor like you're supposed to (call me paranoid) i just put it on silent. Normally i wouldn't cheat this badly but for this exam i really wanted to nail it so i put some notes in for content i wasn't too sure about, went to the toilet, lied to the supervisors (nice old people) about not having anything in my pockets (except for the wallet i gave them) and looked up notes whilst peeing. I think it was the reason i got 70+ in that unit, without it i prolly would've got under. I was surprised at how easy it was but i never did it again, didn't think it was worth the risk of getting caught. Also i was only able to get quick glances at my notes since time is a factor to consider. Now that i think about it, why did i cheat for that exam? I must've been on the knife edge of failing... Oh i remember now, it was because i wanted to get a certain average for honours classification. I don't feel guilty about it, i don't think its right but the fact of the matter is, it was really easy throughout my whole time at university. I think you'd must be really sloppy to get caught at the university i was at. Actually i heard quite a few people getting caught doing plagiarism which i find quite funny because its pretty easy to plagiarise. You must be really dog shit lazy to get caught.
