because of depression and stuff, I'm in a constant state of apathy. Nothing is fun anymore, video games, guitar, exercising, talking to people, everything. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do, but this feels terrible. I've been sleeping like a ridiculous amount since there's nothing else that gives me enjoyment. How do people get out of this state?

Get professional help. It's the only real answer to your question.

There are a lot of things you could try, and many people will advise many different things. But if you want to feel better quickly, get someone who helps people like you for a living, have him/her offer advice to your specific needs.

I hope you feel better quickly!

Professionals are the way to go, but as a bi-polar sufferer I can tell you that getting your ass out of bed, opening the curtains and getting some sun on your skin will do a surprising amount of good for your mood. When depressed, as hard as it may be, you just have to force yourself to do the things you usually do, work, play etc.

When you lie in bed, you just dwell endlessly on the things that are making you depressed, you might not even realise that is what you are doing, but it is. Confronting whatever is making you feel this way is the first step and carrying on despite your entire being protesting that you'd rather just lay there, is a huge step.

Quick note: If "this feels terrible" then thats a good sign, when it gets to "I don't "feel" anything, everything is just meh" thats when you're in real trouble.
When there is nothing left to lose but your dignity, it is already gone.

sorry man I have no idea, but let me know once you find out.

smoking good weed helped me a lot, but I wouldn't recommend to everyone as it can actually make you feel more introspective. but it also makes playing games and watching movies fun again.

I dunno man... go out with friends. laugh. forget for a while.

I avoided that piece of advice, Weed works well for me but I know others for whom it isn't the way to go. Then again, prescription anti-depressants (usually actually anti-anxiety pills) can fuck you up far worse.

You need something that gives you a challenge.

Have you started a company yet?
Have you been on K2 yet?
Have you raised children yet?

Seek a professional.

I'm usually a medicine as a last resort guy, but I know a few people who have been able to 'break the cycle' with anti-depressants.

For me it was enough to get some counseling and just change some habits (getting up at a set time, showering and having a good breakfast).

Also try to do little things like getting some sunshine (if possible) or exercise.

Hypersomnia will actually exacerbate these feelings.

Depression / feelings of numbness etc are a complicated thing, and even when a person knows a lot about you it can be hard to give advice. You will get the full range of responses here.

Things conducive to happiness: Feelings of progression, feelings of acceptance in one's social group, expression of creativity, confidence in one's abilities... etc.

All I can really tell from your post is that "video games, guitar, exercising, talking to people" don't necessarily give you any of the above, so maybe you need to find something that does. Video games can feel like a waste of time, guitar can feel uncreative if you aren't composing very original works, exercising can feel pointless if you don't need muscles for anything practical, talking to people can be draining if you don't feel like you're being yourself or that the people you're talking to are in any way useful.

Seek treatment. Professional Help. Therapy. Maybe drugs. Asking for help is the 1st step.

Put together a support system. Family. Friends. Etc...

Commit to your treatment.

Doing something for your body is often a great answer for it.
Exercising and getting a lot of fresh air and sun. Catching up with friends in the park. Stuff like that.

I have the exact same problem. No enjoyment, just hoping the day is gone and next day the enjoyment is back but only for 1-2 hours then... same cycle every day.
I have great friends (since kindergarten) but "turned out wrong" because I dont play Fifa anymore (they still play Fifa). I play football, they dont play football anymore and many other leisure stuff too. Talking is just boring, I feel it is just a waste of time, always same topic (football, women, politic etc). Everyting is like a cycle, I just dont want it.
Depression is a loanword for me and I am not sure I know how depression feels and I always think positive. I have asked my friends how their day "works", they say the same thing as mine.
I am always super happy if I am on holiday, 24/7 fun but this is not ok if at home is boring for 11,5 months.

In order of most to least important:

Nutrition.
Sun.
Posture. I have felt depressed just as a physical feeling, due to the way I was sitting, I wasn't breathing correctly and I couldn't take a full breath. Now that my posture is better, my breathing is better and I overall feel much better.
Something competitive you can form rivalries + friendships with.

No particular order:
Find a way you can feel like a king or manager. Everyone around you is important and deserves admiration.

Focus on the positive in people. No matter how weird / crazy / etc, looking at the positive will allow you to learn something from them. Often others' dismissal of the person as weird / crazy (and not positive) will not allow them to learn from them.
Watch some clouds.

Learn about the body as subconscious. Aka the "sympathetic nervous system" it is responsible for acting on the fight or flight situations. In modern times we are conditioned to take no action, to blow off horrible stuff on the news, etc that we become numb in many other situations. When we are afraid we do neither fight nor flight: we simply freeze. This is the worst action to take as it freezes up your emotions and you can find yourself unable to feel anything after a while. What I like to do for this is to play scary video games. When you're scared, scream, don't just do nothing. This can help turn back on the fight or flight response, which should also help you to start feeling other stuff again.
Please PM me with any songs you like that you think I haven't heard before!

I think I have an excellent Nutrition. My last fast food was 2 years ago, I only drink water.
I hate Sun.
I sit very healthy. My friends says that I sit very strange "You have a very straight sitting posture" -.-

No particular order:

I hate recognition and admiration. It feels overrated and tomorrow nobody remember it (what I did). I have perfect experience here. My friends still talk about my pure dominance at many areas ~10 years ago and now everyone knows that this they are useless today. Thats why I have learned to hate recognition and admiration.

I grow up with super positive mindset. I watched too much clouds and I am too experienced. Felt like I learned nothing with it. "deal with it" is pretty easy for me and I came much (rather too) strong back, many people (notably rivalries) were pretty angry that I started with worse start and "won" pretty clear at end (hi lawyers and enemies).

I have to admit that I learned pretty hard about my ego few years ago with only brain-training. My friends were pretty shocked that this is possible. (considerable resistant against (big) clouds, very friendly to people (no dirty words) and even at conflict, very correct behavior at every situation etc). My friends cant find any negative characteristic about me.

I took care about me and I improved my characteristic. I had few negative, just with brain training and without any practice I removed them all and I feel I can't fall into relapse to my old characteristic. Everyone was very impressed and happy because I was sometimes very unbeareble to everyone If I disliked somewhat.

I am not sure about clouds (I took google translator). Yes I can say the time without see clock if sun is here. I can tell you north, south, west and east every time.

Getting bored in your leisure time is actually a very good sign.
It means that you are ready for the next phase.
You need to stop striving for "leisure time" which you need to fill with fun activities.
This by definition gets boring over time.

Find a higher goal that fulfills you!
This can be as simple as these:
- Publish a smart phone app
- Learn Russian until you can read Dostoyevsky
- Participate in the Ironman Triathlon at Hawaii
- Get a Black Belt in Karate
...
The important thing is to have a goal that seems completely unachievable at first.
So you will need to take small steps to get there.
The vision of the big goal in mind will give you the necessary drive.

^ Your examples aren't "normal", its only for people with too much leisure time or want high competition/challenge. I am only looking for fun.

Well if I had lived near piste, I would have spent my leisure time with snowboard like I did on holidays. Sometimes 14h at a stretch with night rides. Simple posture on snowboard (exactly what beginners are doing wrong: legs are straight) makes this possible, it takes less endurance than one 400m sprint run for me.

I actually think the other guy is right on target. From what you described, your situation sounds like what I had a few years ago, and getting some serious challenges was what brought me out of it. The challenges made me feel like I actually deserved/wanted the leisure time of games, etc. The fact that you say you are depressed, but that you want fun, seems a bit odd to me. In my experience depressed people are lacking something much more fundamental than leisure and fun. Usually leisure and fun is something to mask the depression or distract from it, and not a cure.

Anyway, if you're just bored with all your hobbies, start googling around and look for what interests you. If you just want "fun", how do you expect people here to give you advice? We don't know if you'd rather sit and play video games or mountain climb and meditate in the Himalayas.

You gotta give us more to work with if you're looking for advice.

Go an talk to someone professional in the field about this issue, why is nothing fun anymore.

It is essential that you find someone whom you trust and who you can work well with. It might not be the first person you find, or the second, maybe you have to look longer or maybe you find someone right away.

Help shall be given to those who ask, but you have to ask for it. If you have a desire to change thats all you need (and some money to pay for help) , but trust me, with the right person you will be able soon enough to have fun again

As I said about my issues. We (ee and my friends) dont have same hobbies anymore, not a single now. Computer (video games or Internet or whatever) and TV are pretty boring and I feel everytime it is just a big waste of time. Talk/Discussion is boring too because is always the same.

I always looked if city or university offer leisure time but they dont offer football or badminton and many other things that I like.

It is not about how they react. It is about how you react.

Your body overrides your mind. If you're at home all day and sleeping alot it's natural to get depressed. Try to go out side and walk in the sun for a bit, or do some sort of task that you would consider productive to your life - just as an exercise (cleaning your home, researching future employment/vacation, running some errands, cooking.).
In my opinion doing these simple things, even mechanically - will put you in a better mindset.
So force yourself into some action.
