I'm currently in Sintra, Portugal, as part of my backpacking trip through Europe and I couldn't help but chuckle today as I walked throughout the town observing the... uh... lack of consistent sidewalks.
Sidewalks in Sintra...
allow for 1 lane of pedestrian traffic... 1 way...
similarly to their castles
require you to still need to walk with 1 foot on the road
will give you a hard time fitting a single foot on the sidewalk
are home to tree remains...
or sometimes a still living tree
...and it's family further down the road
... who sometimes hassle you from above
covered by the road
have water running over them
have large holes in them
to the point where you need to jump
are buried beneath someone's front steps
are used as parking lanes
often just don't exist...
and instead have been replaced by colourful stone paths winding through random sections of small, yet confusing parks containing hidden exits and minimal signs.

Jokes/sidewalks aside, this place is still really beautiful and I would recommend visiting here if you are ever in Portugal and especially the Lisbon area (it's a 45 minute train ride that leaves from Lisbon every 25-ish minutes)

I'll be making some kind of a huge blog at the end of my travels covering every place I visited most likely. This was just a fun thing I put together in my free time this afternoon
Hope you enjoyed!
