So..now i'm on the step number one of my SC2 road - PICK A RACE. Terran not in the list. It's Protoss vs Zerg. I did 2 games versus medium AI today, recorded them. and then i advanced to almost last AI dificulty in matchmaking while juggling those races.. Check out this videos(zerg one is more silent because it's harder for me to comment) 1-st as Protoss : http://bit.ly/Se1ibk 2-nd as Zerg : http://bit.ly/1u9lglZ And now i wanna your help guys, try to ansewer my questions: 1)I need to choose Zerg or Protoss? 2)Why? 3)What is your idea how to improve my skill and progress with race you ansewered in question 1? 4)Ansewer on question #3 is based on what you seen i can do in videos? 5)Didn't you changed your mind while ansewering 2,3,4
Looking forward for your help! Thank you TL Community <3 !!!

Pick protoss if ur a masochist who likes being looked down upon for no reason by ~1/2 the community.

I'd say the two are closely related.
Anyway, I play Toss, but I wouldn't recommand them. All the matchup have a similar feel to them, especially in lower leagues while I feel Zerg can be much more different and have more "fun" units to use, so I would recommend Zerg.

Protoss - More 'beefy' units, easier macro mechanics, as you progress up you'll start having to learn a lot of spellcasting micro/individual unit control. Match ups feel similar.
Pros: Lots of solid macro and all-in build orders. Easy to focus on macro/defense then get deathball and move out and win. Cons: Community doesn't really like protoss because "it takes no skill".
Zerg - Less 'beefy' units, harder macro mechanics. As you progress the focus will be learning your macro cycle (drone/army timings and ratios). Less important to focus on spellcasting or individual unit control, more about army and worker timings, overall army positioning, getting surrounds and creep spreading until higher leagues. Matchs are diverse. ZvT, ZvP, and ZvZ all play out quite differently.
Pros: Very diverse build orders. Fits a variety of playstyles due to immense diversity in match ups. Cons: Learning how to drone up to get econ advantage without dying can be frustrating. ZvZ can feel like coinflip.

I watch the videos. Personally I started by playing protoss (now I play random) but I would say play zerg. You can get better by finding some basic build order/timings for Zerg and trying to focus on meeting those benchmarks. A classic example is stephanos 12min roach max. This isnt really used in the metagame anymore but its a good example for how to watch a pro player do something and then emulate it. Just go to the zerg (or protoss) treads in the TL strategy forum for some builds. Then go play some games against AI or people and just try to have fun, whether you win or lose. Setting goals (not like winning, but say "i want to make sure i drone up and not miss injects) will help you see your progress despite the outcome of the game. Over time you'll just end up winning more and more and getting better. Some tips: try to keep your money low, this will come with better larvae injects. Remember to always have fun because games are supposed to be fun You'll get better over time.

Zerg is exponentially more fun in the lower leagues. The term, "A move race," is much more applicable just because neither player frankly has much of a concept of unit control. Until your opponents really start to split/micro, you can just giggle as mass lings wreaks havoc.

Anyway no hard to switch for Toss later if i'll struggle.

Zerg is way more varied and fun at lower leagues than Protoss, for sure. Protoss is just too one-dimentional and gimmicky, so in my opinion it takes a lot of the fun out of it.

Protoss if you don't feel like grinding a ton to learn the mechanics and you are more focused on army control and timings and such. And don't mind the heat from terrans. You can't beat a terran and feel ok about it. But Zerg has the more iconic foreigners (at least imo) like Stephano, Vortix, TLO etc and the creator of the universe was Z. It feels nice to be on the same boat. I also feel like zerg is more fun but doing ok with Z will be more of a challenge initially, depending on your personal strenghts/weaknesses ofc.

And why terran is off the table? The most fun race of all I think.
