First we have Targa, a Zerg player hailing from Norway. Targa, though a pretty house hold name in Europe at this point, hasn’t been showing a lot of games lately. Last Season, he made it to the round of 8, taking out Tod, Naniwa, Happy, and Welmu, then finally losing in 1-3 versus the boss toss MC. Since then Targa did make an appearance at IEM Singapore in the open bracket. taking out both PiG and Nestea, but losing to Feast and San. With that in mind, Targa will be facing off against Miniraiser, the Swedish Zerg on Fnatic.
Miniraiser did beat Tod in a close series to make his way into Premier League, which I can assume many felt as an upset. But besides that game, Miniraiser has only made it to one major tournament recently, being IEM Cologne, where he was swiftly defeated by Stardust and TLO 0-2 in the open bracket. Though Miniraiser could bring about another upset, I’m pretty sure Targa will pull through.
Next we have Dayshi, the French Terran on team Millenium. Dayshi took out the zerg player hope 0-3 to secure his premier league spot, but really hasn’t done much in the way of Major Tournaments. His most significant achievements outside of Team Leagues and French lans was his run in HSC VIII, where he took out Ret, Nerchio, and Scarlett. Unfortunately for him, he may have the toughest opponent in the round of 32, San.
If you haven’t heard of the Korean Player San yet, let me enlighten you. Though in IEM Cologne probably the most stacked tournament of the year thus far, he lost out in two PvP series early on, versus HasuObs and MC, eliminating him in the open bracket. Prior to that he had just Won Asus Rog Winter 2014, and placed second in IEM Singapore. Here’s a quick list of his kill count from those tournaments: Protosser, Tefel, Sortof, Snute, Life, Stardust, Dear, Blysk, Feast, Targa, Avenge, Xigua, Mvp, Effort, Hydra.
So unless teammate ForGG, the only Terran other than Innovation to beat San in TvP recently, can prep Dayshi to his caliber, it doesn’t look good.
So let’s break it down:
Targa wins over Miniraiser (unless Miniraiser does to Targa what Targa did to Naniwa last season)
San beats Dayshi (I’m rooting for Dayshi, but its San)
San beats Targa (just like IEM Singapore)
Dayshi beats Miniraiser
And wait for it! Dayshi beats Targa.
Meaning both San and Dayshi will see the round of 16. I get this is the same as Teamliquid’s prediction, but I have to say, I think it’s quite spot on!
