Less art and more rambling, less happy and more sullen this time as well.
So lets quickly recap this year, shall we?
January 1st - May 30th - glorious second half of my army service. Important guy sgt. fusefuse teaching and bossing his whole platoon around. Fun times, great exercises, lots of time spent in the field and behind the steering wheel of various vehicles (I still don’t have a license tt).
June - I’m free! I got staffed and donned the shiny Liquipedia puzzle piece the day I got done with my military service, big things ahead! Cue 2 weeks of relaxation and debauchery.
Then, time to head to Dreamhack! My first ESPORTS event, with the smallest of budgets, but one of my fondest memories to date, a thoroughly fun week with awesome people. Met great TLers (hi Epoxide, shz, pPingu, 7mk, Hot_Bid, Bumblebee) and fell in love with Dota 2, really sparking my interest in the game.
After DH, 2 days at home and off to a week long roadtrip with friends, a van & tents, around Estonia. Yet more awesome. But too much of a good thing is never great, and I fell ill on the penultimate day of our roadtrip. Lovely times to spend most of the time horizontally, trying to keep the little food that i could actually input from coming straight out again + proper fever. GG
July - August - Uneventful times, I can’t actually remember what I did during this time apart from lounging at my home or our summer cottage. Oh and a whole week doing the art for SirJolt’s Dotalinguistics article. Which was a lot of fun.
Last week of August - Time to head back to school, switching majors again, moving to Tartu, resume dorm life.
September - November - Being back in school is not fun anymore. My coursemates are goddamn teenagers. ESPORTS biz is kicking up, having recently done graphics for everyone and anyone, and I love it. It’s difficult to keep motivated thought and prioritize school over bettering my skills and doing stuff i love. Cause that’s kind of the idea of enrolling again in a major that’s easier and should ideally allow me to balance art, music, alcohol and credit points just right. Maybe I just haven’t figured out the proper balance yet.
December - Holey fuck exams rendering me useless for anything else. So I just end up disappointing people who are relying on me to come forth and put some effort into making good stuff = further demotivation. This year has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride and I’m actually glad it’s over. Been spending the holidays back at home renovating the kitchen, just to go go back to Tartu in a couple days to start preparing for exams again. Looking forward to getting mindlessly drunk tonight and starting the new year with a head full of hangover and regrets
Notes to self for 2014
* Draw more
* Start making music again
* Get a paid gfx gig at last
* Save up to go to DH Summer again
* Be less jaded and disappointed in everything
* Enroll in the Defense League maybe (analogous to the National Guard in a way I guess), being in an uniform and being important was challenging and fun
I’m sorry this blog has been so word-heavy, how very uncharacteristic of me. Venting is fun though.
