6.79 DOTA changes & Analysis (my opinion only)

Here are some of the massive changes I felt from reading 6.79.

Bloodseeker

- Thirst is now global instead of 6000 range

- Thirst bonus now stacks for each unit that is low HP

- Thirst HP threshold increased from 20/30/40/50% to 50%

- Thirst movement speed bonus reduced from 15/25/35/45% to 7/14/21/28%

- When Thirst is active, movement speed cap is removed on your hero

- Thirst no longer provides armor bonus

- Thirst provides bonus 7/14/21/28 damage

- Thirst no longer grants full hero vision around low HP targets, it only shows their model

Analysis: Major buff. Although you can see further, but diving is harder due to removal of armor bonus & movement speed. Major buff in teamfight because the movement speed STACKS without a max cap.

Brewmaster-

Reworked Primal Split Aghanim upgrade.

- Hide Spoiler -

No longer upgrades any stats, cd, duration, etc on Aghanim.

Instead, it now grants Thunderclap to Earth, Drunken Haze to Storm, and Drunken Brawler to Fire.

The skills granted are at the same level as Brewmaster's skills.

Cooldowns are independent of the original Brewmaster.

Analysis: Neutral. Removal of the ability of stun from Earth, but lets you double clap. Clap is a massive slow, so I guess it's a take and remove. But major change

Clinkz

- Searing Arrows damage increased from 20/30/40/50 to 30/40/50/60

- Searing Arrows manacost increased from 8 to 10

- Searing Arrows is no longer blocked by magic immunity

Analysis: Major buff. Increase in damage AND no longer blocked by magic immunity? Yes please.

Drow Ranger

- Precision Aura can now be manually casted to affect creeps globally for 30 seconds (120 cd)

Analysis: Globally for 30sec means you can split push the other lanes without actually being there. Nice.

Luna

- Moon Glaive can now bounce back on the same units if it already hit all other units nearby

- Moon Glaive bounce damage reduced from -30% to -35%

- Eclipse Scepter beam count limit per target removed

Analysis: HOLY SHIT. BOUNCE BACK SAME UNIT AND NO LIMIT?! Die please.

Nyx Assassin

- Spiked Carapace no longer stuns your hero when your summoned units proc it (the summoned units get stunned instead)

- Impale no longer has unit targeting, it is now only a point targeted spell

Analysis: Nerf to Nyx.

Phantom Assassin

- Stifling Dagger shares the same crit chance/factor as Coup de Grace

Analysis: A low CD spell that does Pure Damage and can crit? Major buff

Pudge

- Can now use Blink Dagger

Analysis: MUAHAHAHAHAHHAHA


Riki

- Riki is no longer revealed out of Permanent Invisibility when he casts spells or uses items

Analysis: Dagon 5 Driveby. Lets go. Treant + Riki.

Rubick

- Added Aghanim's upgrade: reduces cooldown from 20/18/16 to 5, increases cast range from 1000 to 1400 and makes all stolen spells be considered to have their Aghanim's upgrade

Analysis: 5sec cooldown means a lot of spells. Invoker also has a no cooldown upgrade and you can see it spam spells. Now a rubick can do that too. All his stolen spells have no cooldown. Expect a stolen Blackhole, into another stolen blackhole or something lol. OR stolen naga sleep into stolen sleep into stolen sleep.
Feederbolt spoilt my dream.

Skywrath Mage

- Added Aghanim's upgrade: reduces Mystic Flare's cooldown from 60/40/20 to 20/10/0

Analysis: Lol. Late game skywrath mage only need to silence n ult spam i guess. Extremely potent midgame buff.Combine with a OD for maximum magical pwnage.

Slark

- Shadow Dance can no longer be revealed by Truesight

Analysis: Major buff. You cant stop a slark in his ultimate. Nothing can. Except AOE stuns.

Spirit Breaker

- Nether Strike now uses 1.2 Cast Time instead of a 1 sec magic immune delay (can be interrupted as a result)

Analysis: Nerf.

Treant Protector

- Living Armor cooldown rebalanced from 15 to 32/26/20/14

Analysis: Major nerf. No more auto win 2/3 lanes with a treant.


Vengeful Spirit

- Can now use Blink Dagger

Analysis: MUAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAH

Viper

- Poison Attack cooldown reduced from 4/3/0/0 to 0

Analysis: Making it on par/better than all orb heroes.

Flying Courier

- Cannot be purchased until 3 minutes after creeps spawn

Analysis: Why? lol. At least it ensures that the walking courier is now easily gankable.Yes, couriers are now a valid ganking target haha.

Linken's Sphere

- Linken's Sphere can now be cast on an allied hero to transfer the buff

- Hide Spoiler -

When on cooldown it does not work on you. Goes into cooldown when cast and once the buff is used up.

If the cooldown ends and the buff has not been used up, the buff ends and does not trigger another cooldown.

700 cast range

Analysis: What?! Nice buff. Potential big plays for skilled players.

Maelstrom

- Chain Lightning AoE increased from 500 to 900

Analysis: SORELY NEEDED. Maelstrom was shit as the bounce aoe is too small. Now maelstrom is super viable as a item.

The Maelstrom/Mjolnir buffs + Faceless Void's buffs may make him more viable in a 2-1-2 setup.

I don't think you'll be able to steal sleep -> sleep -> sleep -> sleep simply because the spell stays on cooldown unless you steal a different spell in between them, meaning the fastest you could potentially use the same spell again is 10 seconds.

edit: actually no, if you use the first spell when steal is already off cd I guess you could cut that down to 5 seconds. Meh.

Seems like a nice update, except for Luna, that's fricking ridiculous, it's not like she needed a buff, at all.

Is it confirmed that the Earth Panda loses stun w/ aghs upgrade? I had read it as you get Stun and clap with Aghs now? If it took away stun to give you clap why the fuck would you still get aghs? Just for the CD?

Several skills with no cooldown and toggled spells cannot trigger Essence Aura.

The luna changes aren't as nuts as people think IMO.

Like, there have to be exactly 2 or 3 units around for it to be a buff and otherwise its a straight up nerf since the damage dropoff is greater. The damage is admittedly much much better when there's only like 2 units around though.

The beam bounce cap is only for sceptre ult so it literally didn't change since sceptre luna is awful anyway.

Luna bounce change is a bugfix anyway. People shouldn't go crazy about it. Not like it was super broken in DotA 1.

Doesnt matter. It just so happens that the Skywrath has a short cooldown spell to spam,doesnt it?
