Things haven’t been all good though. I’ve made a lot of mistakes during my stream. Forgetting to change the scene for an entire replay I cast or speaking while accidentally muted are some of the many mistakes I’ve made. I’m actually considering writing myself a cue card of things to remember while streaming so that the experience is as seamless for viewers as possible!
Coaching has also been really eye opening. At first I think I went to in depth for gold or silver players and should’ve focused on broader concepts. I’ve also learned that having a well thought out structure for coaching is a valuable tool for giving a good lesson. Talking through mechanics and hotkeys before diving into replay analysis establishes a good foundation. I can then refer back to this as I explain how to avoid mistakes, micro properly or keep money low.
I also received a comment saying that I teach too fast and talk too much! While this comment was from someone watching my stream I do think I am fairly intense. I just want to convey as much info in each hour session as is possible. Hopefully for those I’ve already taught you can make use of the fact that I will be keeping all the VODs available. That way you can go back and review anything I may have sped over. I’m going to work hard to slow down and explain concepts as clearly as I can while maintaining some time time for relaxation during the lessons.
One thing that is interesting is that when I stream I am more motivated to improve my own analysis and play. All of the ladder games I’ve played while streaming have been the games I’ve learned the most from. Ever. I’m so surprised how much can be pulled out of even the most silly games.
Hopefully I will find time to edit and upload much of the content I’ve made this week to youtube so it can reach a wider audience as I think people can benefit from it. I’ve got a tournament this weekend and so I will be preparing for that this week!
Wish me luck!
