I love puzzles. I grew up solving them. I would also create them for my friends and family, much to their enjoyment. I now pass on 50 riddles and questions to TL, for your pleasure and/ or competitive spirit.
The first person (or the first few people?) to correctly answer all (or the most) brain teasers will be rewarded with a TL+ subscription. All winners will be rewarded within one week from now. If you're a winner and don't want the reward, then you can ask me to gift the TL+ subscription to someone else.
Some of these I made up, some of these I've heard from other people, and some of these I shamelessly stole from the internet. Feel free to work together, post your answers, and ask questions. Enjoy!
Riddles- Solve each brain teaser.
+ Show Spoiler +1. If a farmer has 4 haystacks in one field, 2 haystacks in a second field, and 12 haystacks in his third field, how many haystacks would he have if he put them all together?
2. What is at the beginning of eternity, the end of time, the beginning of every end, and the end of every place?
3. What has a mouth but can’t speak, a bed but doesn’t sleep, and a bank but no money?
4. An electric train is traveling due north, and the wind is blowing due east. What direction is the train’s smoke traveling?
5. One morning, Mary gave five cents to each of her five sons. What time is it, and why?
6. My thunder comes before my lightning; my lightning comes before the clouds; my rain dries all the land it touches. What am I?
7. A basket contains 5 apples. How can you divide them among 5 kids so that each kid has his own apple, and one apple stays in the basket?
8. Why is it illegal for a man living in the Unites States of America to be buried in Canada?
9. What is the word for a woman who does not have all her fingers on one hand?
10. Two girls are born to the same mother, on the same day, at the same time, in the same month and year… and yet they’re not twins. How can this be?
11. You’re in a house, and you need to start a fire in the fireplace. You have three logs, kerosene, paper, and alcohol… but only one match. Which do you light first?

13. A, A, B, C, E, H, M, __ ?
14. You are a prisoner in a foreign land, and your fate will be determined by a little game.
There are two jars, one with 50 white marbles, and one with 50 black marbles... all of them identical in size, shape, and texture. At this point, you are allowed to redistribute the marbles however you wish between the two jars; the only requirement is that each of the 100 marbles must be in one of those two jars when you are finished moving marbles around.
When you are finished moving marbles around, both jars will be shaken up, and you will be blindfolded and presented with one of the two jars at random.
You must reach your hand inside the jar and pull out one marble. If it is white, you will be set free. If it is black, you will be killed. What is the best chance you have of surviving this game, and how do you go about setting the marbles so that this happens?

Update: Now that a bunch of people have had the chance to solve these brain teasers, and the TL+ prizes have been given out...
Answers- These are all of the intended answers to the 50 puzzles. It may be the case that you’ve come up with a slightly different answer that works just as well. Fair enough. Here are mine.
+ Show Spoiler +1. One 2. The letter “e” 3. A river 4. Electric trains don’t have smoke 5. (Whatever the current time is for you; the first sentence is irrelevant and a misdirection) 6. A volcano 7. Give one kid the basket with the apple inside, or put a kid in the basket with the apple 8. Because he’s still alive 9. Normal (you have half your fingers on one hand, not all of them) 10. Triplets, quadruplets, etc. 11. The match 12. Z (Ten, Nine, Eight, …, Zero) 13. U (Fibonacci sequence with letters) 14. Put one white marble in one jar, and the other 99 marbles in the second jar. You have a 50% chance of picking the jar with the one white marble (in which you will definitely pick that white marble), and if the 99-marble jar is picked, then you still have almost a 50% chance of picking a white marble. Total probability of white marble: ~75%. 15. Quick brick 16. Double trouble 17. Mint lint 18. Power hour 19. Nickel pickle 20. Lamp champ 21. Sydney kidney 22. Starvin’ Marvin 23. Winter printer 24. Don't really care about the TL+, but I'll entertain it without googling.
+ Show Spoiler + Riddles: 1. I'm assuming the answer is looking for 1 stack of hay, but an industry haystack is a standard size iirc, so it technically could be 18. 2. The letter E. 3. River 4. Electric trains have no smoke. 5. It's morning, not sure if it's looking for a specific time. 6. 7. One kid gets both the basket and an apple. The rest get 1 apple. 8. Burying someone alive is usually classified as manslaughter. 9. Normal (assuming 5 fingers on each hand) 10. I've heard this before, can't remember 11. The match 12. Z 13. 14.
Two word rhyme: 15. Quick brick 16. 17. Lint mnt 18. 19. Nickel pickle 20. 21. 22. 23. 24.
Double Vision: 25. Watching a watch 26. 27. 28. 29. Cellular cell

Damn that was solid. I'm not sure about your answer to the "not twins" one though . Mentally comparing your answers with what I wanted to submit, I think some of these questions have multiple answers.

That was fun! :D I failed to answer 2, and some of the homonym ones confused me, I could only think of homophones. I didn't use google or look at anyone else either.
EDIT: Alright, with the hints and a bit of thinking I've filled out the ones I missed.
Riddles- Solve each brain teaser.
+ Show Spoiler +1. If a farmer has 4 haystacks in one field, 2 haystacks in a second field, and 12 haystacks in his third field, how many haystacks would he have if he put them all together? - One haystack.
2. What is at the beginning of eternity, the end of time, the beginning of every end, and the end of every place? - Simply the letter "e".
3. What has a mouth but can’t speak, a bed but doesn’t sleep, and a bank but no money? - A river.
4. An electric train is traveling due north, and the wind is blowing due east. What direction is the train’s smoke traveling? - I don't think an electric train produces smoke.
5. One morning, Mary gave five cents to each of her five sons. What time is it, and why? - Morning because that's the only indicator of time in the text. EDIT: If it's an actual time, I will say "five to five" which could mean for example 4:55 or 16:55.
6. My thunder comes before my lightning; my lightning comes before the clouds; my rain dries all the land it touches. What am I? - A volcano.
7. A basket contains 5 apples. How can you divide them among 5 kids so that each kid has his own apple, and one apple stays in the basket? - Give on child the apple with the basket, or alternatively place the child inside the basket with his apple, or kill a child.
8. Why is it illegal for a man living in the Unites States of America to be buried in Canada? - Because he's still alive. D:
9. What is the word for a woman who does not have all her fingers on one hand? - Any word that describes the lack of a physical deformity in which you have all your fingers solely on 1 hand! She doesn't have to be "normal" though, she could have 3 hands and 4 arms and still the description would be untrue.
10. Two girls are born to the same mother, on the same day, at the same time, in the same month and year… and yet they’re not twins. How can this be? - They could be triplets, octoplets, etc.
11. You’re in a house, and you need to start a fire in the fireplace. You have three logs, kerosene, paper, and alcohol… but only one match. Which do you light first? - The match I guess
12. T, N, E, S, S, F, F, T, T, O, __ ? - Took me a while, but I get it now. It seems to be the first letter of the words for 10-1. Final letter should be Z for zero.
13. A, A, B, C, E, H, M, __ ? - Fiponacci sequence in letters, based on their placement in the alphabet. H is 8, M is 13, next up will be 21 which is U.
- Best chance is placing 1 white marble in 1 jar, and the remaining 99 in the other jar.
Rhyme Time- Each answer is a two-word rhyme.
+ Show Spoiler +15. A fast moving cinderblock. - Quick brick.
16. Evil twins. - Double Trouble.
17. If dryer debris gave you fresh breath. - Mint Lint.
18. Super strength for sixty minutes. - Power Hour.
19. Five-cent cucumber. - Nickle Pickle.
20. A lantern that’s defeated all of its opponents. - Lamp Champ. :D (My favourite)
21. Australian organ. - Sydney Kidney, hah, that took me a while.
22. A cartoon martian who’s hungry. - Starvin' Marvin.
23. January photocopier. - Winter Printer.
24. The stage from Hell. - Devil Level.
Double Vision - Each response contains either a pair of homonyms or a repeated word.
+ Show Spoiler +25. Looking after a timepiece. - Watch watch. 26. A nocturnal member of the Round Table. - Don't know this one... My only idea is Night Knight but that's not strictly a homonym. 27. Smoothing out Warsaw. - We need to Polish the Polish. 28. A beautiful ringer. - Again, maybe I don't know homonyms at all... a belle with a bell? 29. Tribond- Figure out what each trio has in common.
+ Show Spoiler +30. Car, Tree, Elephant - Trunk
31. Pumpkin, Bird, Sunflower - Seeds
32. Condom, Handgun, Dodge - Protection EDIT: With the hint I'll say Magnum too, I guess I don't fully know what Magnum means in condom terms, but I can imagine things... O-o

It is scientifically possible? Some of the questions can be answered without having to be clever :p But I do understand what the right answer should be if a clever answer is required.

+ Show Spoiler +1. If a farmer has 4 haystacks in one field, 2 haystacks in a second field, and 12 haystacks in his third field, how many haystacks would he have if he put them all together?
One. 2. What is at the beginning of eternity, the end of time, the beginning of every end, and the end of every place?
letter e 3. What has a mouth but can’t speak, a bed but doesn’t sleep, and a bank but no money?
A river? 4. An electric train is traveling due north, and the wind is blowing due east. What direction is the train’s smoke traveling?
An electric train produces no smoke (Almost left southeast there lol) 5. One morning, Mary gave five cents to each of her five sons. What time is it, and why?
Heh, morning, before they have to leave for school. Not sure if there are north american usances I don't know of. 6. My thunder comes before my lightning; my lightning comes before the clouds; my rain dries all the land it touches. What am I?
Time, reversed. This one was awesome. 7. A basket contains 5 apples. How can you divide them among 5 kids so that each kid has his own apple, and one apple stays in the basket? Give one kid the apple along with the basket lol. 8. Why is it illegal for a man living in the Unites States of America to be buried in Canada? If he's living in the US he's not dead enough to be buried elsewhere (Similar to the question: "Is it legal for a husband to marry his widow's sister?") 9. What is the word for a woman who does not have all her fingers on one hand? Not sure yet (skipping this to think about it later), but I guess she would be normal since having all your (ten) fingers on one hand would be quite abnormal lul. 10. Two girls are born to the same mother, on the same day, at the same time, in the same month and year… and yet they’re not twins. How can this be? In theory, it's possible that her two egg cells have been merged with the DNA from two different fathers, technically speaking they're not twins then. (In the ages of in vitro fertilization this can be kinda tricked out). Or they could have hatched from eggs lol, but I guess you're speaking of humans. 11. You’re in a house, and you need to start a fire in the fireplace. You have three logs, kerosene, paper, and alcohol… but only one match. Which do you light first? The match bro. 12. T, N, E, S, S, F, F, T, T, O, __ ? No idea yet, working on it. It's tempting to put in O though. 13. A, A, B, C, E, H, M, __ ? Ditto. +0 + 1, + 1, +2, + 8. Wtf? Will try later.
We a are looking for the smallest probability to pull a black, which is a combined probability of 1. Picking the jar with most blacks in it and 2. Picking a black out of that jar. Picking a jar is always 1/2. Picking a black out of a jar is Number of blacks / Number of total in the jar. We want to maximize the total number in the jar, and turn the 1/2 into our favour. Hence, I'd put one white marble in one of the jars, and everything else in the other. That way, probability of picking a black becomes 1/2 * 50/99, which I'd wager is the smallest I can get. 50/198

One white ball in one jar, all the other balls in the other jar for ~75% chance to live.
15. Quick Brick 16. Double Trouble 17. Lint Mint (or Mint Lint) 18. Power Hour 19. Nickel Pickle (this doesn't work outside of the US) 20. Lamp Champ? (even Lampion Champion I guess) 21. You guys certainly got a lot
Here are a few hints and corrections for those problems that many of you can't figure out:
5. One morning, Mary gave five cents to each of her five sons. What time is it, and why?
+ Show Spoiler +I'm looking for an actual time.
21. Australian organ.
+ Show Spoiler +Start with the name of a city.
32. Condom, Handgun, Dodge
+ Show Spoiler +While protection/ safety are good answers that I hadn't thought about, there's another completely different one... Maybe you should ask Derek Zoolander?
37. Plumbing, Lion, U.S.A.
+ Show Spoiler +While pride could work for lions and U.S.A., I'm not so sure about that one for plumbing. Instead, consider the actual names of the states.
38. Lost Continent, Friction, Pokemon
+ Show Spoiler +I'd expect you to be psychic to get this one correct.
50. ??? = L it T to G to the T R C of a T P.
+ Show Spoiler +A few of you got this one, which was really impressive. As for the rest of you... ask Mr. Owl.
If you have any questions on any others, let me know!

+ Show Spoiler + Although I guess 5 to 5 (4:55) and 25 to 5 (4:35) also both work.
