I'm ApocAlypsE, 25 years old from Israel, studying Aeronautics Engineering. And playing SC2 when I have time to breath. I was Master Protoss in WoL, and I decided that in HotS I want to reach Masters with all 3 races, starting with Zerg.
I'll want to keep this a weekly thing, but that depends on the amount of time I got.
Right now i'm Diamond in NA, occasionally facing Master players with alot of aggressive play, but this season I wanted to level my EU account, and ATM i'm in Platinum and I doubt I will stay there for long.
I will try to play a reactive macro style, take few risk here and there, and sometimes focus on one aspect of my game, and this week it will be about minimizing APM redundancy even if it will slow me down.
This week it will a ZvZ against a nice fellow named Peoplez

So he spawned Random. I usually hatch 1st all matchups anyways so that isn't a big of a deal

We both hatch 1st, and we do almost mirror builds

When my lair starts, I usually build 8 lings to scout for enemy units or tech
So I managed to nail his Queen, and got away smiling.

I saw additional 2 gasses in his nat, so I thought Mutas are on the way
ANNNNNNND I was wrong... as I saw Roaches later

We both took our 3rd, I took a bit earlier.
I decided to try to nail his 3rd and poke at it, he had a Changeling I didn't see in his army...
And that what happened:

He nailed my army down, I tried to run but half of the Roaches tried to ran through his army,
and I went to the mid game with no army to speak off.

Lucky me I had Overlords on his both potential 4ths, so I sent a decent Roach Hydra force I built to kill it

But he did kept up with upgrades and had few Banelings in his Roach army to challange my non existant anti Baneling splits

So I lost my army a second time, and he had a bit of a window to do severe damage to me, but out of luck he didn't see it.

When he finally did attack, I had few Infestors to change the outcome of the battle to my favour, only to lose that part of the army to a bunch of Ultras

So I decided to show him who is the Hive tech boss

Sadly I didn't had the chance to use it properly
Sooooo the game went on with me constantly denying his 4th and 5th, and he went for a massive push to equalize

Somehow I won the fight, how it happened is beyond me.
I pushed the advantage again to deny his 4th again, and he went for a last ditch attack

So after a hard sweaty game, few lessons can be learned here:
1. Prepare your fights. Have an escape route when trying to deny something and avoiding the fight.
2. Ultras in ZvZ without melee upgrade are not that good.
3. Overlord spread can save your ass.
4. I need to manage my mineral to gas ratio better...
5. I need to hunt those damn changelings down.
My opponent did ask for tips for improvement, I could't give him a sufficient answer mid game, but after watching the replay, i think:
1. Spread Overlords better.
2. Stay less on low tech, Infestors are still pretty good.
3. Don't lose that Queen to 8 lings, place her better.
4. Ultras are not that good without melee attack upgrade.
5. Place your army to defend expansions, so you wont have to hunt him down when he snipes you one.
6. Hunt down those Overlords once you have anti air.
So. 1st blog evar, I will try to continue to give interesting games here, and hopefully I didn't bore you too much ^_^
