My New Hardstyle Project

HeHateMee United States24 Posts May 16 2013 18:43 GMT #1 After a lot of effort and many hours of work (I just slept 13 hours last night to catch up -_-), I finally have the first bits of my new hardstyle project to share with the world. I've previously shared my video game music with many of you, but I've never shared my work (or interest) in the areas of electronic dance music. You can listen to the debut of my first track under the "Eclipse" alias here: I'm by no means an expert or pro when it comes to music production, so don't expect perfect mastering or the best results. I am quite proud of my work, however, and don't think it's even half bad. I'm especially proud of the climax section of the track. I would very much love to hear your feedback, suggestions, and criticisms. I only strive to learn and grow. Thank you.

Kommatiazo United States579 Posts May 16 2013 18:55 GMT #2 The high pitched sound that goes on every other phrase for the first minute or so almost made me turn it off tbh. It just isn't an interesting addition to the song, but that is only my opinion, and first impression. Perhaps modifying it so its more of a high pitch tone that shifts more pften or something, rather than a weird squeal that is the same phrase after phrase. After I listened to the rest I was much more pleased and liked the whole piece a lot more than I did at first. Like I said though, it was just my first impression, and I'm not trying to shit on your work, just providing constructive criticism. In the end, I think you did a great job and produced a really cool bit of work. It doesn't sound nearly as amateur as some other stuff I've heard, so special props for that. Keep it up.

docvoc United States5491 Posts May 16 2013 19:20 GMT #3 Couldn't do it. It was too strident. The sound was caustic almost, it was painful on my ears dude. I'm a mellow guy when it comes to music, and while I can handle some shrill noises, this was too much from the get-go. You need to make it less so from the start out, if you want to build up into it, sure, but don't just start in medias-res with music.

Blisse Canada3710 Posts May 16 2013 20:55 GMT #5 I'm more into trance so I didn't like it until after 1:00 in or so, and then afterwards it was pretty nice. My only complaint is that all the different sounds seem really blurred together.

HolyExlxF United States256 Posts May 16 2013 22:04 GMT #6 More dynamics, I think. It could be a really interesting song if you introduced some flow to the noise level. Also, the layering is pretty bad, and that descending siren sound is...out of place IMO.
