Hello TL! This is my first blog, so I wouldn't expect something like Shakespeare, and I would welcome comments and critique. Thanks!
Some background information: My buddy and I play 2v2s. By doing the same thing over and over, we have achieved 2v2 Masters league. We played many games, but this one in particular stuck out to me.
After this game I glanced over the APM tab and found that the average for a player was over 1000! + Show Spoiler +This confused me because normally APM doesn't go over 500, so I watched the replay and screenshotted these APM values:
(These values were taken at various point in the replay. The super high APM values only lasted a few seconds.) The arrows denote which APM tabs came first. The super high values only happened in the early game. Later in the game, I didn't see any super high APM.
My questions are:
- Was he using a bot?
- If so, why use a bot to APM spam for 2 seconds?
- Why would he use such a bot?
- If he wasn't using a bot, how could someone possibly spam in upwards of 28,000 APM?
I hope I showed you all one of the weirder things you have seen in StarCraft and thanks for reading!
For the curious, here's the replay: http://drop.sc/327553 We are wswelstar and DenTenker.

Did you look through the game to find evidences of hacking? It's probably a bug, if you guys didn't notice anything.

Idk, maybe he just likes to see himself with a super high APM.

Seeing how we beat them, he either was a terrible hacker or it was not noticable in game. Even if I did try to look, I wouldn't know what I'm looking for anyways.

in brood war you could hotkey your hatchery or w/e and hold the key down while moving the mouse off the screen. This would give you a really high apm. There was no real point to it other then to be like lol high apm!!

Just follow his vision and see if he is peaking at your army or something through Fog of war.

There are experimental bots that techheads like to fiddle with that display super crazy APM out there on the 2v2+ scene, its possible you ran into one.
