The other most prevalent form of sharing via the Internet is of course blogging. Whether the author is an old lady and the content matter is her 99 cats or Tim Ferris writing about lifestyle design, most everyone thinks they have something to share. The problem is that most everyone has nothing worthy of attention to say because they have no idea what they are talking about, so blogging usually results in nothing more than 'idle talk' (Gerede; like a written form of the talkshow). The issue with that is that because we have so much of this dreck, it's oftentimes hard for anyone to distinguish what opinions are actually worth listening to and which ones are not - fortunately for TL we have the blue posters feature for some of the sections here to circumvent that problem. On the other hand, people like Habermas think this development is great because people get to talk about politics, discuss issues and so forth (i.e. participate more actively in the public sphere), which is very healthy for political decision-making on the citizen level and thus also for democracy as a whole. | ||
