Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to type this up as i have just lost my job...
Now... I was working in an IT Job as an apprentice, i made a few mistakes with data which made me become more pressured, which made me make more mistakes... main reason i lost my job...
Well time for some sc2 and w/e and look for another job/apprenticeship cba to go into much detail but ya we left of good terms but.. still i don't think its sunk in...
what would you recommend for me to get back on my feet? how did you guys deal with it? what should i do with the time i have now....
Thanks for reading! (anyone that did) not going to really write much coz im still trying to get to grips with what happened as i am typing this... i left a couple of hours ago and ya... ya...

Real sorry to hear that man. I'm not really sure what to say in terms of advice as I am still rather young and am still working my first job. Don't be hard on yourself, and good luck finding another, don't give up

Just try and learn from your mistakes. Look back and think about what you did and how you change what you did for next time.
Just keep pushing through for a job, any income is better than no income.

Use the time to work out / run / cook healthy foods, just get in shape!

Don't sit idle. The worst thing you can do, imo, is sulk around the house for to long. Get back out there asap and start shaking hands and applying for a new job.

Look on the bright side, you at least got the apprenticeship and it's something you can put on your resume looking forward. I'd make the most of this time to begin going balls deep in search of a new job.

Don't spend too much time trying to collect yourself. You need to be out there job searching, especially if you have bills or debt to pay. Network, using sites like LinkedIn (if they use that in the UK). Ask friends for help with either meeting a new company or meeting a client that sounds interesting to you.

Yeah get a new job asap, work hard on it so you don't get lazy and convince yourself that it's the right way, you're useless anyway etc.

Heh, I love how everyones like "get a new job" as if you can just go pluck a job off the job tree. Sure apply but don't be discouraged if you get passed over, also don't stop learning. Enroll in some free classes online, setup things at your own house(servers or what ever form of IT you do) so that your skills stay the same or even improve. The main idea here is to keep looking and learning about your chosen discipline so that way you can be hired easier.
I also don't know if there is the A+ program in Britain, but at least in the states you have to have this IT certification to be taken seriously by a lot of companies. So if you haven't gotten it or the equivalent IT certificate that is also something I would look into especially if you're considering IT as a job for your life time.

Man that sucks. Maybe work on your self-confidence. If you get easily stressed out you're at risk of falling into more of these mistakes-provoking-more-mistakes chains.

Like anything in life - use it to learn. Knowing what NOT to do is as valuable as knowing what TO do.

so yeah, you still live man, nothing really happened.
relax a bit, mistakes happen, maybe it simply wasnt the right job. give yourself a week to settle down and then start to search for a new job. dont force yourself to find it fast, just wait for the right one

Good luck man! I think part of IT is just that you need to be able to do a lot of work and handle a lot of tickets in a short amount of time. It's probably too stressful or too much work so think of it as a good thing if that was the case so you can find a less demanding job elsewhere.

I have been in your place. Work out, seriously. It is a great self esteem boost and even on my worst days, I walk out feeling accomplished, then I go ladder for 4 hours and cry.

The funny thing is unemployment is weird. Im on it now after being laid off of my part time job this past january. I could go work part time at mcdonalds but I would make the same I am making now not working. Or I could get a full time job at mcdonalds and make 2 times the money, lose my EI and if I lose my job or quit when I move for school I have no money.
Sometimes unemployment makes for some interesting and odd decisions. I want to work, but I make enough that I have the option of finding something I want to do as opposed to doing something I dont want to do and making the same wage :/
To the OP: Enjoy the weekend, take it off and chill. Monday update that resume and start looking. Apply for unemployment ASAP as well just so you can have something to help you out in the meantime while you look for work.
