I need help with the title of a movie, I don't remember any of the actors, only the general plot. This was an American independent film from a few years back. The protagonist is a male who leaves his family and job without notice to visit his parents in New York. They are artists or writers. The protagonist feels pressured and depressed from his job and family. He wouldn't tell his parents what was bothering him and why he decided to visit them. He almost jumps down the stairs in front of his parents' apartment.
For most of the film, the main character reconnects with his childhood friends, one of whom just got out of jail but had smoked marijuana again while on probation, the friend liked the Indigo Girls. The main character also meets a girl he knew from childhood and apologizes to her for something. Near the movie's end, the situation is resolved when the protagonist cries to his mother, then finally returns home.
