This tip comes from Spanishiwa, a Sc2 Zerg user. The thread was made for Sc2, but can easily be interpreted for Sc1. First, I ask you what is better for a marine push with marines alone without any upgrades? Zerglings or Sunken Colonies? Sunken Colonies is the ideal choice in most situations if your opponent plans to be aggressive. This is because of how much larvae you're using for Zerglings to kill let's say 6 marines. Let's say you need at least 5 larvae(10 Zerglings) worth of Zerglings. If you used sunken colonies you would only need 1 sunken colony which is basically 1 larvae to take care of the 6 marines. You can use the other larvae to create drones instead of wasting them on Zerglings. You can basically make sunkens, defend, and pump drones.
Also comes the problem of overreacting to pressure. If you think in the point of view of a Terran, then they'll want to make you feel nervous. They might do what seems to be a push with a handful of marines and medics. In response you might be pressured to make Sunken colonies in , but the opponent can simply pull back making you waste that money. Also, when you're making creep colonies expecting a push from your opponent, don't turn them into sunken colonies right away. You want to wait for your opponent to push and then you start making your creep colonies into sunken colonies. You can park a scouting unit outside of your opponent's base to see when they're pushing.
Those are all of the tips I can confidently give out knowing that they don't have misinformation....I hope. I hope these tips help you Zergies out. Good luck.
