http://blip.tv/day9tv/rss
This is simply using their RSS system that blip already has to be able to keep up with the accounts. This does not seem to work on my Chrome in my experience, though.
But sometimes I don't feel like going through the trouble of downloading the video before I watch it. Like today I wanted to try and watch Day9's playthrough of Faster Than Light. But then I saw that Blip.tv's player started doing something else really freaking annoying. After you finish a video, it auto-starts the next one without your permission. I've encountered this problem before and blip's player really has no business doing this without asking your permission or giving you the option of turning it off. I may not want to watch the next video, and the next video could be completely unrelated to the one I'm watching now. So in this case, time to bust out the script blockers. I namely use Adblock Plus.
I couldn't find an answer on Google, so I did a bit of experimenting. After a bit of tinkering around, I found the script that pops up after a video is finished. So I added this filter, and it stops the blip player from auto-starting the next video:
||blip.tv/episode/shelf/*
I think I'm gonna continue to use this blog to post some tricks to getting around web annoyances whenever I run into them.
