Welcome to the Automated Ban List Fantasy Proleague blog ~
What the hell is this? The Automated Ban List is one of the most perused threads on TL for veterans and masochists to join in the mutual suffering and schadenfreude of watching others and occasionally ourselves get banned. We've made a group for it on Fantasy Proleague 2012 which can be found here, to join simply go here and press the add sign next to the group to add yourself to it.
Why do this horrible thing? Why else? Epeen! Also the highest scorer per week will be able to choose and ban anyone in the group (NOT including yourself) for a sum of 2 days. And don't you think about dropping out of the group and whistling non-nonchalantly once it looks bad, man up and take your chances like everyone else ~ I will also keep a list of participants just in case you are a scardey cat.
Rules:
1. Every week the top scorer gets to ban somebody with in the group.
2. The same person can not be banned on consecutive weeks, but may be banned as many times as the FPL period will allow, and you can Not ban yourself.
3. Post a reason in this blog along with your ban target when you do so and it will be included in the OP.
4. You should submit your ban target at most 2 days after the week's FPL results are released (so Thursday of the next week, presumably if everything works right). This won't be enforced, however:
5. If you do not ban a target before the following Friday (making the ban extend till after the next week's results), you forfeit your ban opportunity.
6. The ban target has to voluntarily go to The Automated Ban List and request a temp 2 day ban with the reason "ABL FPL". If you do not do this, or if you fail to do this before the following Friday, you will be removed from the participants list and everyone on the list will scorn you and laugh at your cowardice for all ages.
7. The same person can only ban a maximal of once a month, if the same person is the highest scorer consecutively, the ban gets handed down to the next highest, and so on). So in the case that the top 4 is consistent for the entire month, all top 4 get a chance to ban.
For being in the groups "WJS Fans", "CJ Entus HWAITING", and "KHAN Fans". Stop playing the field and commit to a single team. Take two days to decide which team you are a true fan of !
I still don't quite get how the trading works. Players and teams fluctuate in prize? ut you can only trade to someone with lower or same value? And only 1 to 1?

You can only trade down for your main team, and only up for your anti team. When a player loses their value goes down, and vice versa. This is so that trades are very difficult decisions to make as if a player goes on a losing streak on your main, you can't trade him for anyone worth more once his value drops and vice versa. You can trade 1 of your main and 1 of your anti per week.

Just joined the group! PL is like till August next year. So a long time. I think only one 2day ban over the course of 8 months is far too little suffering.

I see now with the trades. Hard to know who and what to trade when the next matches haven't been announced. Is there any lockout period for training before/during matches?
I think we should up the ante not in amount of bans but in duration: Winner get to give someone a 2 week ban. Loser of the group must request a 30 day ban.
I'll join if you're still taking signups. Just joined the fantasy group now. I could use a little dirt on my record.

Yeah up the ante from 2 days that's nothing. At the very least 2 weeks. ALSO I propose winner gets to choose their own mod note.

I'm happy with this idea. Keeps it simple. I don't like having a longer ban than that every week (a 1-week ban per week seems a bit much).
And woo, I'm not bottom despite having fewer points than when I signed-up :p I am showing how little I know of the Kespa players outside of the GSL; my only positive points came from Bogus, Bbyong, and Sin (who didn't get to play because Woongjin had already lost).
I'm gonna ban myself so I don't have a perfect mod record any more xD Also because I think that's the fairest decision for week one since not everyone's signed up and aware of all the rules yet
How about nobody can be picked for consecutive weeks? That stops one person being banned every week but means that the list of people who can be banned is always high. Otherwise by the end the choice may be somewhat limited.
Hmm... I'm thinking that a few weeks in some of us (pointing at self) don't have the chance to get to the top. So the same few (maybe only 1) will dish out the bans every week... What about the score per week. At ties the overall ranking wins. That way more people can swing the banhammer while giving the advantage to those being best overall...

I will include a clause so that the same person can only ban once a month (in the case that you have the same person win consecutively it goes to the next highest score). This should allow enough differentiation as the top 4 should shuffle around quite often.
I'm gonna wait for a day for feed back first before banning myself.
One last question: Do you think this should be placed in the blog section? Or some other section where updates can be seen easily since blogs don't get pushed to the front page with new posts? If so which one?
Well... For me personally it doesn't matter since I just view my subcribed threads. And is there really any point in bumbing it to the frontpage when it is an intern ABL thing? I think blogs is fine... but I don't really care either way...
Aw man I went from 621st to 2974th overnight. That's okay though, I'll just lurk here in the middle of the pack for awhile and take over the world when Stars starts beasting it up.

I thought it was done by weekly score and not overall score. At least that's what it says in the OP, and it does make it less likely that the same few people are always top.
And your score of 0 still beats my -2. Your anti-team score was impressive though, only bettered (or worsened I guess) by Azera, who has Rain, Bogus, and Roro on his anti-team... :p

Im worried about the trades... When do they announce the lineup for this weekend? Before or after the deadline fo trades? I need to change some people on my anti list :D
To answer my own question: Lineup for next week is now up.
I traded Bisu to Wooki. Wooki is playing 2 PvP's next week and won the first round against JYP. I'm guessing he should win at least one of them if not both.
On my anti team I traded Last to Trap. A bit of a gamble since he is playing twice. 1 time against BByong and against Shine. Hmm... I don't know... He lost his first week match to soO...
I'll stab a kitten if ryul2 beats flash and fantasy. I'll just be loudly angry if he wins 1, but the kittens will be safe.
I, like many others, probably were very happy with the ryul2 pick up but then he plays against flash and fantasy who are both on my team. Switched to mind, he's getting a lot of playtime and personal praise from flash.

It's not as simple as sell high buy low - its more the expectation that the player's value will increase/decrease during that week. So you should trade for someone with a low value if you are fairly certain they will perform highly that week.

My strategi to begin with was to just pick players from different teams. That way I won't be overly fucked (I hope). Maybe it would have been better just to put all eggs in the same basket and then beat it with a hammer hoping everything went fine...

I was planning on picking mostly from two teams (STX and Woongjin), going for the all-or-nothing approach but ended up thinking Bbyong was just too tempting.
Also, I traded one of my anti-team so now I'm down to -3
Well this week is going to be interesting, since the week(s) actually ends on the 18th(Tuesdays) instead of the 16th I'm going to move the dates in the requirements. I will take the screen shot for participants now though.

also I thought it was per week score, i.e. I didn't win this week (shady or zealous looks like with a week +26) but caihead pm'd me. what do people on the bottom of the list hope for?
so im rank 1 right now. I don't really read too many threads so i don't know many people. I'm taking suggestions (with reasons) in case i stay first at the end.
There is another sign up phase during round 2. Which will be handy for some people as this round wasn't the best*looks at self*. Also bans will be more common place since vacations are over.
There's going to be a new list for beginning of Round 2, if you want to join just join the group and I will screen shot the list at the start of Round 2, feel free to drop in / out up to the first game of Round 2.
How does round 2 work? We get to make a new team like we did before round 1? Do we keep the points from round 1? (I have never played fantasy before...)
Hydra and Crazy-Hydry both saw a lot of playtime. I Expect Hydra to do better this time around. Teaja is capable of doing all-kills. We know that. He will do so again. Zenio did better then I expected him to round 1 and my hope is he will be used as a sniper to get me those combo-break points. Rest was what I could afford.
My anti team is somewhat a hit or miss. JYP did okay in round 1 I just personally don't think he is very good. Major won't see much playtime and if he does he will most likely loose (imo) JangBi is just a placeholder so I can trade him to Stephano week 1.
I'm scared of my anti team this round. Last season was so simple, except for kt_motive trolling me at the end. Will end up with some combo of 5/5/3 instead of 7/3/3

I'd man up but only if there was a perm ban agreement after like 3 rounds. 1 round is a little short and a bit luck dependent.
as well as winner's league isn't really that good for perm ban. Someone is going to get lucky with like a player X reverse all-kill and you can't really say you "predicted" it. I don't think you can distinguish if a player will end up with 1, 2, or a 3 kill; picks are really based just on "this player is solid and I expect them to have good shots at consistent 2 kills". Some players just have a really hot day, and some players have a "disappointing" day (which sometimes can even mean 1 kill, which by all standards is "good" except for FPL points), and such day-to-day fluctuations are more "luck" based in terms of what-you-can-predict : fantasy-point-output ratio.
Except when picking your top dog (flash, bogus, rain, fantasy, taeja, etc) who you hope is really capable of a big streak, and with them you rely on their team losing so that they can have the opportunity for 3 kills or something.
In regular proleague format you can try to predict players who are good on specific maps/specialise in certain matchups and get a little bit more rewarded for it. At least IMO.
f it i'm going all in, put all the chips in. Can't pick a WJS player because too hard to pick who the ace is. Can't pick a KT player because too expensive. Skipped SKT aces because too expensive and picked team instead. Baby Best Reality Revival Hero[join] to all kill, mini gets sent out and gets a win or two, and SKT wins both games 4-0. Hitman and JYP doesn't get sent out, and stork loses right out of the gate. Kthanks. Yes I do notice that I didn't pick a single KT main team and infact picked one for Anti.

I had stork anti but then I went the even more blasphemous jaedong anti because apparently jaedong is going to NA for a US tournament. He'll at least miss 1 match.
First, I got the PL ELO ranks for the top 50 players in 2012-13 PL (from TLPD), and filtered out all the players with an ELO under 2000 (the baseline).
Then I ranked the top scoring ELO players by valuation ratio.
(P - LA - TW) / $ = R
Where P = season 12 points LA = season 12 lineup appearance points TW = season 12 team win points $ = season 13 cost
R = the resulting ratio. A higher R denotes a player with better "value".
Then I picked only players with high Rs, high ELOs, and at least one "streak break", which means they took down a good player.
The result is a core of Dear/Speed/Stats/Taeja. Taeja and Stats have the potential to clean up teams. Dear and Speed are extremely good for their value. Paralyze and Acacia are there to get me team points from SKT and KT, and act as dark horses. P is still pretty overpowered following the infestor nerf. Heavy Samsung focus in the anti-team--a lot of their players are pretty overvalued.
Sweet, my team delivered as expected. Net +1 gain, with 5 players and 1 team to go on main team, and only 1 player left to go on anti tomorrow. May ditch Jangbi for hero[jOin] though. Was not impressed with his form tonight.

That's pretty much exactly how mine went. All-kill format makes it super hard because there is a high chance players just don't play.

Yeah that's what I thought last round so I traded Bisu for JangBi on my anti because they were both doing equally terrible and Khan was doing terrible as well, then he goes monster mode in the last week and knocked me halfway down the table.
If a player wins one game,they are guaranteed 2 points. 1 point for appearing. 2 for winning but if they lose after, they lose a point so only 1 point is for sure. If their team loses then they get 0 points and are stuck at two points. However if they are part of the winning team they accumulate 3 points (assuming that they lost before hand and that the player in question was not the last player). Also, only the 3rd or 4th player can get streak breaks.
With this logic, I picked Roro on my main team and Stork on my anti. Roro would be able to win at least a few games and would possibly appear as the ace. Samsung would save him to be the 3rd or 4th player sent out therefore increasing the chance of streak breaks. On the other hand, Stork would fail and not win games therefore he was on my anti. Samsung would have a difficult time winning games but Roro/ Jangbi would prevent all kills. (Jangbi was also considered but Roro seemed to be the safer pick.) So on the odd chance that Samsung won, it would because of Roro pulling through and Roro would cancel out the point that Stork got. I was expecting a lot of 3~5 point days from Roro.
Last night proved one thing, "damn it nooboon you over complicate everything." Should have gone with Jaehoon.
The one bright spot is that light got a single point.
EDIT: my math is bad also so I should just make picking player a simple process and not over complicate things

It's all kill format, with teams like SKT / KT/ CJ / Woongjin / EGTL even if you make a great pick that player might not even get sent out >_> so there's huge amounts of luck involved.

TT my picks were really solid this round (soo, fantasy, free, ssak, hon_sin, bbyong) in the sense that I hit correctly that ssak and free would play, but people keep losing. need them big streaks like fantasy had week 1!

Difference between getting praised and people simply not reading it, I'm fine with criticism but if the things I do just get buried and no one actually even reads them what's the actual point? damnit, traded jaedong off antiteam since he was starting in a zvz (he did win iirc), but traded him for stork who goes and 3 kills. one of the better antiteams overall -> fail T_T
My strategy of picking the best anti-team was made irrelevant by the fact my main team had no flash, or free, or hydra, or jangbi, etc. So I'm not going to win this round...

Dear is on my team too, but most of STX is (Classic, Bogus, and Trap as well as Dear). I thought they were undervalued. The all-kill format didn't suit STX because they don't have a super-ace.

The guy should excel since he doesn't have to worry about multiple games. He did well in the first round so I expect him to do well again. Also CJ is good team so team points. 2 hOpe A little hope doesn't hurt. Also KHAN on the rise. 8 RorO It was either him or ZerO and I already had Bravo. I chose Roro because it would either be him or Jangbi as the ace for KHAN whereas ZerO has a lot more competition for the ace role. 4 soO SKT T1 Zerg with a special trait. Less pressure because he has to work on winning one map.

Assuming nothing changes tomorrow: the winner would be Melliflue as Ciryandor (who is in first) had already banned someone on January 16th and winner's can only ban once a month.
At the risk of not being able to ban someone, does Ciryandor's pick on the 16/01 still stop him now, even though we have started round 3 and the other was one in round 2?
Position depends a lot on the day in which we decide to stop. For instance, yesterday Melliflue would be the winner but thanks to his 3 trades, he is now tied with derpface and NunedQ for third. We should wait until matches tomorrow or until trades are closed and then decide on the winner.
I'd say melliflue is still the winner, because without those trades designed to give him the lead next time, he would have won. So for the sake of actually having a winner, I say give it to Melliflue.
Should I un-do the trades and leave it as it was? I am happy to leave my team as it is, and go completely without trades throughout. I find trades fun because it it keeps track of how well the new player does compared to the player who was traded out, so I can see if I did something smart or utterly stupid

Yeah trades really screw things over. The first week is the only week we have to use total points because after that we use weekly gain/lose instead.

KT have not been good in round 3. Lost all 3 of their matches. Two of those were with Flash losing the ace match :p
And according to liquipedia some of the players have changed their names again. Wooki is listed as "Zest" (which is better than P7GAB but not as cool as Wooki) and Stats is "Carno". Too many name changes. I think the only one who chose a more memorable name was Sang, because Terminator is such a better name. I was never a BW fan but I did hear about some of the bigger players. I tried learning about the Kespa players after the switch so it was confusing learning all the new players and then them changing names, and the BW fans using the BW ids of the players, so I need to know both.

I started with all SKT and STX and now my team is SKT with Bogus and Soulkey. Although I should not have traded soO for Fantasy last week, but my team has Rain, Fantasy, Soulkey, and Bogus
The FPL does seem to have the problem that if things go well earlier on then you have lots of options but if things start badly then there's very little you can do to improve your team.
Anyhoo, I think jjwhg gets to ban someone for week 3. His main team is all SKT (with Bisu as captain). I think jjwhg can pick anyone except me (since Talin banned me for week 2).

If everyone is cool with The-Templar being "fake banned" then he/she won't have to ban themselves this week. Although it does seem a little unfair for everyone that had gotten banned so a penalty might be involved. I'll let the council decide.

You may have finished 8th overall but you got the highest score in the final week of round 3, which is why you could pick someone for a 2-day temp ban

Thanks I agree that 2 bans per week would be a bit much, and FPL is better than FGSTL in this regard since not every GSTL team plays every week.
Are we going to continue using this thread? Caihead hasn't been around in a long time so maybe it would be better if someone else had control of the OP. Also, we could then change the title so the thread isn't stuck in 2012 :p

I think I am having a good week so far, after the EG-TL win over Woongjin crushed my team in week 1. I have 5 Woongjin players on my team, one is Aria and the other four are the first four out against Team 8. I also have Woongjin as my team. I went Woongjin heavy, I figured it would be a safe bet, although it didn't work out in week 1. A 4-0 for Woongjin against Team 8 would get me 23 points :p
FlashFTW, I feel sorry for you. You had JD play against two of the other players in your FPL team (Argo and Flash). Also, Bisu only played once.

To be honest, I still don't have a favourite team. I like Woongjin but I always feel uncomfortable being a fan of the team who are running away at the top of the table. I prefer being a fan of a mid-table team, but at the start of the season I don't think they were one of the favourites :p

Weekly winners can only ban once a month. This was to prevent one person from winning non-stop. In Melliflue's case, he won back on April 18th. Although this is tricky as its May 1st in some areas but April 30th in others....
There were only 4 weeks in round 4, so if I got to pick twice then I would have half the ban picks, would actually be 2 of 3 since emzeeshady didn't pick anyone :p
But to be honest, I forgot that it was already May in Korea since it is still 30th of April here.

Streak breaks. In EG-LIQUID vs CJ ENTUS, herO stopped beat Jaedong who had a two game win streak. By stopping Jaedong, herO earned an extra 1 (?) point.
Same thing with CJ vs Team 8; herO stopped an all-kill so herO won 2 extra points. Also hydra lost two matches but hero lost only 1.
So hydra: lineup appearance (2): +2 games won (3): +6 team win: +1 lost match (2): -2 total: 7
herO lineup appearance (2): +2 games won (2): +4 team win: +1 streak breaks: +3 lost match:-1 total: 9

Hydra and herO are carrying my team. They earned 16 of my 25 points for week 2. I think for the first time I have a good anti-team though; only -1 point in week 2. Much better than the previous round where I was stuck with HerO on my anti-team

Well the last time Melliflue won (or was able to ban someone) was back in April. The problem is that the next time he won was on either April 30th/ May 1st depending on where you lived. I believe Melliflue passed on week and let ThomasjServo pick; who never did.

Imo the rule means 4 weeks from the latest ban, not calendar months. But I guess since it's week 18 he gets to ban again anyway T_T

Tbh, I think it helps that I don't have any particular favourite players/teams so I never put someone on my team just because I like him. I think Flash killed many teams in the last couple of rounds but people still make him their captain. So I just pick people I think are undervalued, which is usually players who just had a bad round, and hope they get their form back. This time I got lucky with Hydra.
And you're safe Cokefreak. I haven't decided just yet but I see you learnt from last time and am now a fan of all the teams (except EG-TL).

This week though it didn't matter as KT continued to dominate. More accurately, Flash and Zest continued to dominate. They are currently both in the top 3 for points in round 5 :O
So FlaShFTW won the week, but is unable to ban someone since he got to pick a couple of weeks ago. So for week 3 the banning-rights go to Bibbit.
Round 6 starts next weekend, the day after Round 5 finishes. Will we have two winners next week? (Round 5 Week 5 and Round 6 Week 1) or choose the winner based on total?
Also, does anybody know if the FPL for Round 6 will start this week? It would mean everybody having two teams for a week and I don't know if TL's FPL set-up allows for that. I have no idea how it all works :p

It looks like everything is now updated, (Hopefully). This week is a tie between packrat386 and The_Templar . packrat386 had 18 points (19 main and -1 anti). The_Templar had 18 points (18 main and 0 anti), before trades.
Nothing in the rules about ties but I suggest using team captains score.
