A new ranking after a lot happened in October: WCS Acia, GSL and OSL finals. Therefore we have a lot of movement. This month, November, may be the biggest yet in the history of our game, especially with all the international tournies.
Unfortunately it becomes more difficult to rank the players since results on TLPD are missing more and more. I am looking at sc2charts.net already but there isnt everything listed either. If anyone has another database, please inform me.
KalWarkovs Foreigner Top30 November: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=378632
Introduction + Show Spoiler +There is always a lot of discussion who the best SC2 players are. Some automated ELO rankings like TLPD (or sc2charts.net) provide an idea but are not satisfying. Based on KalWarkov`s Top30 Foreigner Ranking, I present you my Top30 Koreans. The players should be ranked by their current overall skill. To judge this, obviously recent results count more, but a GSL win doesnt put you on #1 automically and an established player who is slumping a bit won't fall too far. I hope we can get a nice discussion going like in the other thread. I will regard your opinions for the next ranking. Please consider that the skill-gaps are pretty small and there is no real difference between 3-4 places (especially in the lower part). I could give explanations why I placed the players in this order but I guess I wait for your critics.
Ranking 1. (+2) By.Rain (SKT) 2. (+10) Life (Startale) 3. (+7) MVP (IM) 4. (+13) PartinG (Startale) 5. (-3) Seed (IM) 6. (-5) TaeJa (Liquid) 7. (0) DongRaeGu (MVP) 8. (0) Symbol (TSL) 9. Close but no cigar: Ryung (Axiom), Keen (MvP), Vampire (MvP), aLive (Fnatic), Oz (Fnatic), Alicia (Slayers), viOlet (Azubu), Supernova (mtw), JYP (EG), Last (STX), finale (MVP), BaBy (Team 8), hyvaa (STX), Bbyong (CJ), Bomber (Startale), Nestea (IM), MMA, First(IM), Happy (IM), Gumiho (FXO)
Teams: Startale 5, IM 4, Prime 3, TSL 3, Liquid 2, MVP 2, Stars 2, SKT 2, FXO 1, NsHoseo 1, SK 1, Khan 1, CJ 1, KT 1, STX 1
Explanations on changes - Life and By.Rain are the big winners this month - they are clearly top2 for me with Life making a big leap from 12th place. Rain, winning WCS Asia and OSL, and narrowly losing to MVP in the GSL semis, clinches the top spot for me. Really sad that he forfeited his Code S spot now. - MVP gets #3. I already bumped him up a bit because you disagreed so heavily with his placement. He is still pretty inconsistent when it comes to short tournaments (like World esports masters where he went 0-2), but when it comes to GSL (and OSL) he somehow always does it. - #4 goes to the silent hero of the month: Parting, advancing 13 spots. He placed second in WCS Asia, he allkilled Prime in IPTL and IM in GSTL and last week won his Code S group. He may lack a bit results against the really top players but the consistency that he beat the other with has been astonishing. - Taeja had a really bad month, but I decided to not drop him further than #6, his results this year have been amazing and I am sure he will catch up again. He only loses another spot to Seed who did so-so in WCS Asia and requalified for Code S. - DRG then stays at #7 despite making the OSL finals I still feel his route there (MC, Oz) wasnt really difficult and I placed DRG highly already before. In GSL he lost in Code A to Roro but then requalified. - Symbol lost to MVP in GSL but now won his Code S group again and came as the ace in GSTL for TSL to finish off Prime and FXO. - Another winner this month is Leenock. I didnt value his last MLG win highly cause he didnt beat any Code S players. Now he is doing well again (Day 2 MLG Dallas is finished as I am writing this) and beating By.Rain in a effectively Bo7 extended series is quite an accomplishment. He also could win the World e-sports masters. - How far will MC/Squirtle/MKP fall? MKP not too much. Losing to Life isnt too bad and going 1-2 at World esports masters, shouldnt be punished too hard. - Creator finally makes Code S, but rather disappointed in WCS. He moves down only a bit. - Finally MC. He still beat Flying and Last this month and 2-2 in up&downs is not horribad. But overall he really doesnt look good and he just lost to Moonglade in MLG. - Curious is another silent hero. He never gets a lot of attention for winning his Code S groups. - Now finally Squirtle. He won his Code A match, but disappointed in WCS and lost to foreigners (monchi, Sortof) in Iesf and ESWC. - Hyun continues his IPL Fight Club reign and also made Code S and could advance there (profiting from Rains forfeit). But he still doesnt look too powerful in live play, losing to Vampire and Yoda. - Polt is another TSL guy doing well. He dominates NASL against inferior competition and also could advance in Code S. - Sniper is another strong player not really in the spotlight. He is definitely is THE best teamleague player in 2012 just coming off an allkill of Slayers. He beat Sirius and Keen to directly qualify for Code S where his matches are yet to come. - 2 new Kespa players are coming from Woongjin Stars. sOs doesnt have a lot of results. He just keeps winning his GSL matches. Soulkey was one of the early hyped stars and finally he has some success in GSL and the MLG vs Proleague tournament. Currently at MLG Dallas he is not looking too good though. - Other additions include Kespa players Bogus (dominating Code A), soO (winning MLGvsProleague) as well as Hack and YoDa who could qualify for Code S and advance there.
Teams: 3 IM players (Nestea, Happy, First) dropping out, but YoDa making a reentry. With MMA and Coca the 2 last former Slayers players are dropping out. They were dominating the ranking some months ago. The new 'star team' is Startale, the addition of Hack gives them 5 players in the top30. Kespa is making a stronger presence with 4 new players and now 8 total.

It looks about right, but I think the timing is a bit unfortunate. At the moment only half of the Code S groups have been completed and we're still waiting to see what happens at MLG.
If you released it next weekend then you would have more information to work with and it would arguably be fairer to guys like Creator and Seed who are yet to play their Code S matches.

Its a bit unfortunate, but I didnt want to wait another week for the November ranking. There is also so much going on this month.
Btw I just realized I have 10 terrans, 10 toss and 10 zergs in the ranking. The top3 are different races and no race has 4 players in the top10. If that isnt balance .

No word on FlaSh and why he made 2 ranks but is behind Bogus, sHy and Soulkey?
Other than that: very good ranking

Flash didn't make Code S. He looks good in the MLG tournament, but he had weak opposition, so there's not much to say yet.

Honestly, seems pretty accurate to me. Although maybe I'm just happy seeing Parting at #4 haha.

I have no idea how rain is ahead of life. Every tourney life has been in recently he has fucked everyone. GSL and MLG. And in the one tourney he was in with Rain, he won, rain lost...

Thanks. Flash actually lost in his last 3 Korean appearances (OSL semifinal, GSL code A, GSL up&downs). Well Up&downs he was 2-2. I contemplated letting him fall out of the ranking. He mainly stays because of his potential, not his results.

'Every tourney' is basically only GSL. MLG isnt over, you can count his wins vs Taeja and viOlet there. Rain was succesful in 3 major tournaments at the same time, 3 times Top4, 2 wins. Life could focus on GSL. You could question why Life only was in GSL - because he didnt qualify for OSL and WCS.

I am much more satisfied with Mvp's position in the ranking this month. He made 2nd place at GSL, beating out #1 on your ranking (Rain) and losing by the slimmest of margins to #2 on your ranking (Life), both of whom look amazing so far. Even though Mvp doesn't really have that "WOW factor" that makes you believe he will roll through everyone, and that's largely because he does not roll through everyone (see WEM), he really knows how to get it done and stay at the top.
People say that Life and Rain are sooooo far ahead of everyone else at the moment, and I can see why. They really are far ahead, but I think Mvp is the only one who can compete with them. In reality, it should be Life, Rain, and Mvp who are really far ahead of everyone, because Mvp has shown he has what it takes to overcome Life and Rain.

Bump flash up a couple ranks after he wins the MLG

You should change your rankings to top 32 players since there are 32 players in Code S.

Pre-MLG, I would have said:
1. By.Rain (SKT) 2. Life (Startale) 3. MVP (IM) 4. TaeJa (Liquid) 5. Leenock (FXO) 6. DongRaeGu (MVP) 7. Creator (Prime) 8. PartinG (Startale) 9. Seed (IM) 10. Symbol (TSL) 11. MarineKing (Prime) 12. MC (SK) 13. Curious (Startale) 14. Squirtle (Startale) 15. YongHwa (IM) 16. HyuN (TSL) 17. Polt (TSL) 18. HerO (Liquid) 19. Byun (Prime) 20. RorO (Khan) 21. Sniper (MVP) etc... Too hard to rank after 20 imo.

Yea as I said. From watching you can see that Life is currently better than Rain. Sure enough, Life just won another tournament that Rain was in.

I think Bomber and Leenock deserve to get special mentions. Leenock just showed his ZvP's pretty solid, while his ZvZ is out of the world amazing. And Bomber decided to show up today to remind people he's not a washed-up has-been, especially with a very good TvP series against Rain (who wasn't playing "badly" by any means -- quite the opposite).

Yes, Leenock and Bomber are good, but it's just one series... that's what makes me hesitant to say they belong in the top tier. They won one series against Rain each and both of them have been somewhat inconsistent in the past. At least, if they can make it incredibly deep in GSL or win another tournament, they might have a better claim to the top.
Mvp's run in the GSL may not be worth #3 by itself, but just look at the past months, the past year, the past years, and you see that Mvp's #3 is based on perhaps 40% skill and 60% he-made-6-GSL-finals factor. Plus the idea that he was able to compete with Rain and Life in a period when they both looked nigh-unbeatable.

Creator is gonna be number 1 some day

TLPD has indeed been really odd lately, and yeah bit unlucky timing here, but what can you do... However, I really look forward to the next one, that will hit at quite a nice time after a lot of tournaments. This one is a bit of a transitory list due to the timing, but it'll be very interesting to see the changes from now until the next list.
At the moment, there's been a natural shift with a lot of upsets in the GSL, and racial representation being a bit wonky (For the round of 16, things will go more normal for the round of 8). But, if you actually look at the overall picture, and have a longer perspective than just a few weeks, things are actually pretty balanced and I think this list exemplifies the spread of skill and results in a much truer form than saying "zerg is dominating too much" as some do.
