vote third party. the reps and dems both agree their worst enemy is a third party. they outlaw them from the debates. they want you to think a third party vote is wasted. dont listen, reps and dems are really on the same side of getting nothing done. even if say romney won with like 42% popular vote that sends a strong message

Also, education of the masses has roughly the same objective as aptitude tests - that is, having a more educated populace vote. Don't try to suggest alternative plans when they're not really different and the former is much harder (not just socially, but on an individual level) than the latter to carry out. This being said, aptitude tests aren't a bad idea but people are just knee-jerk retarded, just like they are with the idea of deviating from neo-liberal capitalism (aka free market).

Also, if you think this is something that won't work, try again. Naturalization tests are already going on in the US and nobody bitches and moans like it's the end of the world.

I watched this a few days ago and became convinced this could not possible be real. I am a staunch liberal and would like nothing more than to believe that people in the conservative base are actually this stupid, but it just can't be. This must be a joke, right? She can't possibly be serious? Someone please reassure me that my faith in humanity is not misplaced...

Yes, there are lots of uninformed voters. There are MILLIONS of them. But the real issue is, who exactly is going to be the judge of what informed/uninformed is? Who will be the judge of how competent a person is to vote? I would say anyone who declares themselves fit to make this determination is actually unfit simply due to the arrogance of the declaration. Humility is central to a free society.
