My Games of October 2012
So this month is pretty much filled with several quality releases and I mainly have been playing five games this time around. Some of them I will put reviews for, others I might just limit it to impressions because of time constraints.
But anyhow here are the five titles that I have been playing so far this month:
1. The Testament of Sherlock Holmes:
I'm a big Holmes fan, he is probably my favorite fictional character, and developer frogsware have been putting out a series of Holmes games in the past couple of years. The game focuses on solving crime and mysteries, and so far it seems to be doing a pretty great job with it. Both Holmes and Watson have solid voice actors and the game has plenty of clever puzzles. I'm only two hours in but I'm enjoying it fairly well, a review should be up in the coming week.
2. FIFA 13:
FIFA 12 was a huge obsession of mine and FIFA 13 is no different. The game improves upon the solid mechanics of FIFA 12 and feels like a much more realistic approach to Football due to the addition of first touch control. Plenty of fun to be had here, will be playing a lot till FIFA 14 !
3. Little Big Planet Vita:
While I always appreciate the series, I have never been the biggest fan of Little Big Planet. This Vita iteration however seems to be doing a great deal to draw me into the series. Controls work pretty well with back touch and front touch offering a sensible complementary experience rather than random forced on controls. My review of it should be up sometime after Sherlock.
4. Borderlands 2:
Never played the first, but heard incredibly positive things about it. So, like I sometimes do, I just the hype train. Not a single regret. The game feels huge, broad and filled with the element of randomness. The formula works so well and I'm really digging the humor the characters hold up in the game. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique FPS experience.
5. Dishonored:
Haven't been paying much attention to it until last week, but after watching a couple of gameplay videos and reviews I got onto the Dishonored goodness. Really impressive stuff. The game feels like it has numerous possibilities in how you approach it and what you do to achieve your objectives. You can choose to approach the game in a number of ways and that makes it similar to titles such as Deus EX HR. I haven't played enough of it to give my final thoughts, but so far I'm pretty happy with the way it started.
So, what have you guys been playing or planning picking up this month?
Oh and I put up a fun video telling a story involving Pokemon and madness. Happened to me back in 7th grade. I posted a blog on TL a long time ago about it, but this is the video form of what happened, so check it out here:
