Since getting back into Brood War I found out the hard way that I'm really really bad at the game, but I still find it to be a lot more enjoyable to play personally rather than SC2, which has always felt like it was missing something. I constantly check around looking for people to play with in the BW forums but most people just aren't around much to answer PM's or they just got tired of trying to find people like I did.
Anyways to the point I wanted to call out any other low level (E/D-) players and point them in the direction of a Steam group me and another D- player made (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/BroodWarBeginners) so that we can easily find each other at any time and get a game going or just discuss BW stuff.
Not many people stay signed into TL all day just to receive PM's but many people keep Steam on around the clock since its not much of a resource hog and has some fun features to it. Wanted to show this to the community so everyone can have a place to find buddies and potential opponents on Iccup without adding a ton of inactive people in game. Hope we can get a nice little group going and avoid the frustration that comes with being learning BW baddies trying to find people to game with.

Oh yeah sGs is nice I've been a member for a while. A lot of sGs guys just are already D/D+ etc. so its tough to get games with a lot of them that are on frequently. Some are great like Shoyo about letting you obs games to learn and stuff. This Steam group is just a way for D- and even people totally new to get involved and easily stay in touch. The biggest issue with Iccup and even clan stuff on there is you can't keep up with everyone's time-tables as to when they will get on, having a Steam group makes it so you always know who is online even out of game.

i used to play but i am extremely terrible so i quit then joined for the same reasons you prefer brood war id love to play a few games.
