When the professor is spending all of his time with the cute little Asian girls, surreptitiously document it. Take photos, videos, everything you need and could think of. When he's having coffee with one, be there. When he's having a toe nail painting session, be there. When a cute little Asian girl is sneaking into or out of his office at 1 am in nothing but a bathrobe, be there. After a while, you'll have gathered enough "evidence" to prove that what your prof is doing with the cute little Asian girls is inappropriate and against school conduct regulations. Now, don't go to the Math Department of Faculty. Instead, blackmail your prof. Get him to cut off contact with the cute little Asian girls, and to focus all of his efforts on helping you instead. Threaten to release the "evidence" if he refuses. This will slowly drive him insane though, so be sure that you only have the prof for one or maximum two terms or things could go south. Bonus points for every hit the prof takes out on your life, or if the blackmail ends with a rooftop shoot-out. This is pretty good.

Darn, he actually understands algebraic geometry, whereas I just did linear searches through Hartshorne until I found an exercise that made the current exercise easy.

Undeneath those devious smiles lies a scheming slut. Trust bro. So you can either bed them on the first date. And then take pictures of you two. Threaten them that you'll show them the pictures latter on if they don't put up your names and number on the exam. You should definitely try doing that.

You sound like Shauni, only his recommendation would be a bit more forceful.

The funny thing is, ]343[ is already a complete beast at math.

Now that you guys have piqued my interest and my resemblance to this character, you gotta show me more of him.

Is there a reason everyone uses hartshorne? All the comments on Hartshorne that I've seen are negative :/, and some of the complaints about it sound ridiculous (not mentioning category of affine schemes dual to category of rings, not mentioning the "sheaf on a base" lemmas. But every treatment I've seen uses those two fundamentally, so maybe its possible to do without those and I just haven't seen Hartshorne's treatment. I can't imagine working without those two though. It just seems to me like I've read a ton of negative feedback and little positive feedback, other than "it's a good reference". I've never read it myself, so I wouldn't know.) And IDK if "words known" is a good measurement (though Akhil Matthew's blog is pretty insane); there are a bunch of words that just capture simple concepts. I don't know if the untouchable part is true, but it's certainly true in my experience that there are a lot of things in math where if you know some theorem/idea/corollary/lemma/guiding principle/whatever, suddenly a whole bunch of things become much, much, easier. And every time I learn one of these "key things", I'm amazed at how much better at math I became. So "small differences" (if you see learning just one thing as small) lead to massive gaps in skill.
