To fix this problem, I am gonna try a test for myself using my self discipline to flatter people and be nothing but a good person. That includes picking up trash and common courtesy such as flushing other people's toilets. I hope this works out and if not is always fine    | ||

You sound like you're saying "man people think I'm an asshole so I will ingratiate myself to everyone". If that's just how you are naturally, it's fine. I mean try to be overall a bit nicer if possible at all, but you don't have to go overboard to the point at which you know you won't be happy anyway. | ||

Keep your humour to yourself if it's so twisted that others will not understand it and it makes you look like a dick - that's basic social etiquette. Listen more than you talk as a rule, and you automatically become less annoying. Think before you fucking speak (I've had this problem in the past) and don't say anything that could be taken as rude, if you don't want to look like an asshole. You do that, and if people still think you're an asshole then you couldn't please them anyway. Save the dicking around and hooligans for your close friends, and be kind to others and you're all good to go. A good mood is contagious. | ||

Most of them have been bragging about being pre med as a freshman at his school and how he looks down at everyone else because he's going to be a doctor. He's a dick, no way about it which most of the people who are commenting on here are recognizing. He's not trying to be fresh or original. And as a medical student myself I don't want anyone with his attitude or stupidity (advertising your pot smoking online is not a good idea, admissions boards pay people silly amounts of money to look stuff up) in my profession. | ||

Really, i'm very quirky, introverted and i don't understand social norms and find it very difficult to empathise with people. But thats OK. There are plenty of people who DO like me, and who i can just chill out, be normal and not have them poke and prod me to try and expose my bad side Some people will go out of their way to criticise you just because you are different sometimes | ||

I have read your blog and I wish to give you my thoughts regarding what you have stated in your OP. In one word: Perspective. Let me initiate with an inquiry .. have You ever thought that it's not You that is the asshole but it's all the ignorant chumps that You surround yourself with? Let that thought fester. Let the idea really simmer. I believe that You are looking at this all wrong. There is a time and a place for everything. You must have discipline when discipline requires, but musn't feel as though YOU must change as a person; learn to censor yourself when necessary. For example, please do not make smart ass comments in front of your boss, as they are much less likely to appreciate them than your peers. But, Alas, Do not fear! I have a solution for You. Surround yourself with new people. Clearly the people you've surrounded yourself with are ignorant and need an education. It is not your responsibility to educate. It is their responsibility for be educated. But I digress.. If you're not appreciated for what You are then it's not You who needs to change, it's the appreciation. You only get one life.
