Just a quick little thought, not much to say about it now, but I've had some crazy idea that there are Micro and Macro mechanics that are present in casting Starcraft 2, as much as there are in actually playing it as well. The things you choose to show on the screen, the tabs that you look at and even the little things like moving around with your middle mouse.
I don't have much to say, but I need to start looking at some VoDs by Tasteless/Artosis, Day[9]/Husky, Khaldor/Wolf, TotalBiscuit/d.Apollo and all those other great casters. I know it's gonna be hard breaking into the casting scene as much as it is breaking into the professional scene, but I know there's a way, and it focuses on 'casting mechanics'.
It would suck to come back to the Starcraft 2 community, 4 years from now, only to find the same 12 casters commenting games. In the same way it would suck to find the same 30 or so pros at the top. Sure, it's awesome to see crazy win streaks, but I want to see some new blood coming into the scene, and casters aren't excluded from this.
Better hurry, where's my pen and paper? I've got a lot of learning to do.

I've spent a good 6-7 hours or so reading through nearly every single thread related to Starcraft 2 casting on Team Liquid. Got through a ton of stuff and now to start compiling it into something neat and presentable.
I'm actually surprised that my blog is getting so many hits, I guess it's a lot more visible than I thought. In that case, I'd like to toss a link to my Youtube channel, just once more so people can take a look. I'm looking to improve my casting and am currently trying to figure out if I can reverse engineer some of the better casters to find the key aspects that make a great caster, well, great.

I noticed some gaps in your speech when casting. I think keeping a better flow would be better, as you can see in a lot of the best casters, if you'd like I'd love to help you practice it with me dual casting. Try to establish whats going on as early as possible and then build off of it and what you said earlier. Building off of and leading on from what you said previously is one of the most IMPORTANT aspects of casting, especially solo casting
Also, not sure how experienced you are exactly but some of what you said didn't make a massive amount of sense. "It's really important you have the three gates to protect your phoenixes, especially if you're going a lot of phoenixes". But if you have more gateway units you're going to have less phoenixes and vice versa... hmm it just feels a little like if you said "It's really important to have the stalkers when you go sentry-zealot, especially in the early and midgame because it makes your army more versatile and your sentries less vulnerable."
So you can also try to get into the fights more if you want it to sound better. I.E: When watching hero defend the 4gate you could have said "Look at that great micro by hero, as he's pulling back the sentry after it BARELY takes more than shield damage." during the period when you were silent, created a sort of awkward effect. It's really important to be talking during the battles or it feels pretty awkward. I.E: Not like a commentary necessarily. You should never be shy to say what seems obvious...trust me, viewers prefer it to blank audio space! How about "Now, stargate play is something we've seen quite a lot from hero in the past, he has also been one of those players who have used builds like the 3 gate stargate all-in in Protoss vs Terran when that was a more recent build, so this style will probably not at all be something he's unfamiliar with." And then when hero does a good move, you look good and the cast is improved Basically, remember, you're commentating the game for a watcher not just watching it with a buddy and chiming in with your 2 cents.
When you solo cast it's important to remember to switch from analysis to play-by-play. It seemed as if you were solo casting as if it was a dual cast, chiming in every now and then and then leaving a gap for your imaginary partner to fill in.
Really I'm not trying to bash or supercriticize you, you're doing a good effort, I'm just trying to point out some advice.

I'd be more than interested in practicing with you, but as you're in the UK, I don't know how the time difference would work out. Hopefully it wouldn't be at awkward hours that are inconvenient for either of us. 
As for the awkward silences, I'd started out casting with an old friend of mine. I'd play Zerg and he'd play Protoss, and we would bounce around back and forth during the casts. I suppose I'm still used to the whole duo caster dynamic thing. And about the "saying things that don't make sense bit", I know what I want to say, just not how to say it correctly when the time calls for it. What I meant to say was that Phoenixes are extremely weak units and need the support of stronger Gateway units if they were going for a big engagement. It made sense in my brain, but kinda ended up as a trainwreck when it came out of my mouth.
Thanks for all of the suggestions and tips, you did not come off as overly critical. I'm actually very grateful for your input as input like this is hard to find. Most people just tell me "good job!" and I keep doing what I'm doing without changing things, so thank you!

If any Americans read this, I got to wonder, is it usualy like this, do American teenagers all meet up in their little groups and talk to each other "Oh, how are you today, old chap". "I must say I'm doing quite well"? or is this guy just, and sorry if this sounds harsher than it's supposed to, a friendless social outcast in the most literal sense of the phrase?
I only ask because he gives me the impression that he lacks the psychological security to laugh at himself, or even understand and cope with this behaviour in others without feeling intimidated. Either way I can't imagine him as anything other than a rich private student who's only friends are pretentious future wall-street pigs.
Tl;Dr: Intellectually and socially insecure individual. Extremely passive-agressive. Probably listens to only Mozart because he doesn't know any lesser known classical composers and spends a lot of his time on mainstream hip hop and metal videos writing about how talentless the genres are.
Alternative: Suffers from a high-functioning case of autism or similar mental disorder. Never recieved the proper care to overcome the social and emotional impacts of his condition.

I've actually never heard anyone say "nigga" who was racist. I've heard someone say "Nigger" before.... in documentaries and movies and Orb screenshots. But you really need to wisen up if you don't understand how widely used "nigga" is, especially in the hip-hop and gaming communities.

Second, regardless of what YOU think, it's not what your intended message was, it's the impact of the words you say. You may think that "nigga" or "nigger" is a colloquial word that you can use among your friends, but it's not appropriate to simply assume anything when speaking online.
Yes, I'm Asian.
Does that mean that I should continue to associate myself with people who use profanity or racist remarks?
No.
Does that mean that I should accept other's colloquial use of the word "nigga" or "nigger"?
No.
