My Friends and I arrived at the arena very early. We came at around 8AM in the morning and weren't allowed to play the game. Because of this, we just toured the whole place and even saw Leenock and Polt practicing for their games :D. At around 10AM or 11AM (I forgot), the staff that were in the HoTS section allowed us in and we were seated to the nearest computers. We were given the option to play with the AIs or do a 1v1 and I actually considered playing with the AIs at first, but instead, I just watched my friends play.
A little while later, when we were waiting for the KeSPA signing, I FINALLY got to play a game of HoTS. I played against my friend Scott in a 1v1 and decided to try out the Zerg race since I am a big fan of the swarm!!!
My overall impressions of the game and peripherals:
-The Razer Banshees were surprisingly comfortable. It received very bad reviews from a lot of tech sites but when I wore them, they were very well fitted and comfortable for my ears.
-My only complaint would be the inability to change the settings and the mouse. Immediately, the first thing I wanted to do when I played the game was to change the mouse settings but the computer didn't let us. The mouse too, was god awful and the sensitivity settings were horrendous and was moving all over the place. I still played because the game was good X_X.
-Creep tumors and tentacles. Yes they show tentacles now.
-I find Locusts incredibly strong. They are very tanky and can be used as initiators in a battle so that they may soak up all the siege tank damage. I think swarm hosts don't really operate as lurkers but rather as very great initiators. The locusts are tanky, ranged, and deal quite a lot of damage when a lot of them are produced, kinda like broodlings.
-Vipers, they are flying defilers with the ability to snag a unit. I loved snagging thors, tanks, and colossus, it was very nice. Did I mention that they had consume too?
-Widow mines. Very strong. Can wipe out a whole zerg army that is clumped at choke point OR can be used against you if the Zerg sends the terrorist near your army. Deadly but also has consequences. It was a pain to deal with these.
-I think Tempests are not that strong. The charge time takes quite a long time and I was able to wipe them out with hydras (omg I forgot the hydra buffs).
Overall HoTS was a very enjoyable experience. Aside from the issue with the settings and such, playing the game was fun and that's all that really mattered. Thanks for reading :D
