New track!
I have always wanted to try and do a mix of house and dubstep since i think it would sound cool, and i just happened to make this track in two days. Which is like ridicilously fast for being me. I stumble'd upon the synth which i made for a track about 3-4 months earlier but had forgotten. And i thought it was pretty nice so i started to play around with it and almost instantly i made this synth progression you hear in the background. After wards i just added the drums and tried to make them hardhitting but "short" in time space.
The bass was fast to make aswell since i used a concept i had from earlier. I do however want to add some vocals to this track, but my the microphone i have right now sucks ass, and im poor at the moment.
Anyway i hope you like it!
And show me some love by following me on soundcloud, would mean the world to me!

Alright it just gave this one a listen.
I don't really feel the sound of the drums, I think the kick-drum is kinda meh, it lacks character, layer it or consider a whole other kick-drum. As for the snare, it's got the same problem as the kick, its kinda meh. I'd suggest you find a whole other snare, layer some up find the sweet spots and boost them with your EQ, it should be around 200Hz. Your cymbals sound quite lo-fi and not good, IMO. I'd suggest replacing it with another nice ride.
Your build up is really good, up untill the very end of it where theres a reeeeaaaally subby impact sample playing. I think you would have been much better off by chosing a vocal sample, saying some shit, its very cliché i know, but having something very low-end before your bassheavy drop takes out a lot of power from the part of the song that's being "dropped in".
The bass sounds are really nicely done, though i think they could use some crispiness, try adding some high-end to them, or layer some other sound on top, playing the same notes.
Play around with the filters on the chords, it makes for a much more interesting listening experience. I know its a WIP so i dont even have to mention mixing etc do i?
Keep at it! Msg me here if you've got some more questions Also check out: http://www.reddit.com/r/edmproduction/ for tips, tricks, feedback etc!

Thanks for the comments!
I do think the cymbal needs a bit more of a hit so im gonna try adding a Closed hihat to it to give it a hit, I have however decided to keep it kind of in the background since it messes up the loudness if i raise it up. And im really cramming the shit out of the box here so i guess thats a problem when it comes to the drums. I do like the kick tho, Might do some tricks to give it abit more space.
And the snare i guess could be bigger, But again i like to tread slowly cause its so easy to mess up the loudness when you're going crazy with just raising volume and eq on drums.
The subby impact thing might get cut if i can get some vocals in there.
The chords tho i really like where theyre at.
But for putting maybe... 8-10 hours on this track i really think its turned out surprisingly good.
Mixing and mastering is probably my weakest. I've only been producing for about 6 months.

i think the important question here is what hardware youre sitting on, because without semi-decent equipment, mixing is like running blind. Basically, if ypu make music for yourself and this sounds like you want it to with your setup, then you dont need to change anything really. But if you'd listen to this in a couple of studio monitors or a decent pair of studio speakers you'd hear a bunch of stuff you would want to change without anyone of us listing it to you.
In the end, what matters is that you like what you do and feel like youre learning something new every time you make something.

Songwriting wise, it's good.
An obvious thing you could improve on for this song are the cymbals. There's only really 1 open hi hat in the chorus and it's quite harsh. It sounds better when you layer a few hi hats that sound different (not 3 very similar sounding hi hats for example)
In general terms, I think the two main synths you use are fat and sound good, but they don't work together too well. It's all right though. I have the same feeling about the synths in the buildup. The synths both occupy much of the same frequency range so obviously you have to compromise them on volume. In terms of future songs you make, you could try layering synths that are far apart in the frequency range, because it sounds better if you layer synths that are in different frequency ranges, or at least aren't both playing at the same instance.
The kick and snare are actually ok. They just don't pierce through the synths that much because the synths are so fat. Side chaining the drums and synths would make the drums pierce through more but obviously change the dynamics of the synths.

The reason i choose the hi hat is that its got sort of a "white noisey" profile, if you can understand what i mean? It goes Thhissss thiisss. And its quite soft in that regard instead of going THUNK THUNK THUNK like some electronic hihats. And i tried choosing some other ones but it just didnt feel right.
I dont think i hear what you hear, by harsh, do you mean it hits a frequency in your ear that gives you pain or what do you mean?
And considering the build up i dont really think its that important to seperate frequency spectrums cause its supposed to get batshit crazy and then stop and the drop.
But i do think i should boost the bass on the top abit to give it abit more crisp and do the drums so they get more space and more hit and kick.
I must also say that im quite bad at taking critique, so i appriciate you guys time trying to help me, cause i need to hear this so i can be able to take critique!
