Right,
so I haven't really been active on TL for the last months, haven't even played SC in 10 months. The reason? I've been backpacking all over Australia and SE Asia, not even having Internet most of the time. However, like a true nerd I'm stopping in Korea for 10 days before going home in June, might as well when I'm already on this side of the world :D Just figured that TL has quite a lot of Korea veterans, so if any of you feel like sharing tips and advice on sights, getting around etc, please do so ! Also I'd be more than up for meeting up with any fellow TLers who happen to be there between the 31st and the 10th, Liquid is playing the GSTL this week right?
Cheers everybody!

If you're in Korea for sightseeing, I suggest spending the large majority of your 10 days outside of Seoul, although it may be difficult to communicate with the locals if you don't speak Korean. Start from Kyeong Ju (=경주) and either make your way south towards Pusan if you wanna see beaches full of vacationing people, or climb north along the mountains of the east if you want to immerse yourself in nature. Lots of beautiful sights to see, along with beaches towards the north. Water is clearer but deeper on the east coast. Don't rush though; given your time-frame, it may be difficult to even see everything in 경주 before having to make your way back up to Seoul. Have fun!

Well, 10 days - that's not too bad!
My #1 advice would be to always try new local/traditional food. Don't settle for that familiar McDs around the corner; step bravely into a restaurant with vague pictures on its windows and order the "main thing" on the menu. Might sound really adventurous, but hey food isn't poisonous and as long as you can take spicy/hot stuff, it won't destroy your digestive system either. I don't know how accessible Korean food is back at your home, but the food in Korea is simply amazing and most of the time, affordable.
Taxi is relatively cheap there, but subway in major cities are probably cheaper. If you plan on staying in Seoul for most/all of 10 days then grab a rechargeable card from any of the machines/booths in subway stations, load it up a bit, and enjoy quick and reliable travel within the city.

Only flying out tomorrow night, but if I read Gom's site correctly you guys are playing again soon depending on the outcome of tonight's match? GL anyways!
Also where do TLers reckon one should go to watch the opening games of the Euros? Itaewon?

So tonight's matches weren't too successful, but it was still cool to go to the suprisingly small GOM studios. Also, my face is on the frontpage of the starcraft reddit right now. ( I was in the front row.) Today I checked out the palace and national folk museum, which is pretty cool if you're into that kind of stuff. Was disappointed though that the museum that promises to tell the tale of the Korean people leaves out the war&separation entirely.
I'm planning on 2 more days in seoul, might go hiking or to the DMZ. Also if you ever visit Seoul make sure to bring at least one detailed map, I've gotten lost twice already in my ~16 hours here lol.

The war museum is the best museum. All the culture / folk museums kind of suck.
If you're going to do temples / palaces, just go to gwanghwamun and forget the rest. They really are all the same.
Do the half day DMZ tour if you go. The DMZ tour actually kind of sucks except for tunnel 3. When the inevitably take you to the jade museum / ginseng store, you don't have to stay there. Just bail and walk around whatever area they leave you in. The ginseng store is in Hongdae and the jade museum is also central but I can't remember where exactly.
I can recommend some stuff if you say what you wanna do, but if it's just generic "Where should I go?" you're going to get generic "DMZ, insadong, myeongdong, gwanghwamun" answers. :X Plus 2 days isn't a lot of time.
